5. Snowpiercer
Snowpiercer is the series adaptation of the film of the same name by Parasite director Bong Joon-ho. It is about a train that races at high speed around the globe. Outside the windows, the nuclear winter rages, and only a few people have survived on the train.
Just like in Fallout, Snowpiercer tells of class struggle. The rich are privileged and live in the more luxurious front cars of the train, while the poor live further back.
Starring are also Jennifer Connelly (Requiem for a Dream) and Sean Bean (The Lord of the Rings). The series premiered in 2020 and currently has 30 episodes in 3 seasons. A fourth is set to follow.
You should give Snowpiercer a chance if you liked the following aspects of Fallout:
- A story set after the supposed end of the world
- Conflict of different classes and hierarchies
- Social commentary and critique of society
- People gathered in a small space like in the Vaults
What the IMDb ratings say: Snowpiercer has a rating of 6.9 stars out of 62,405 votes. If you prefer something shorter, you can watch the 2013 film. The premise of the story is the same.
6. Westworld
Behind Fallout is also director Jonathan Nolan, brother of Christopher. However, it is not the first series he has worked on. Westworld also comes from him. The series is loosely based on the film of the same name from 1973.
The story takes place in the future and tells about a theme park with a Western theme populated by androids. Human visitors can participate in life in the park and unleash themselves. Of course, that doesn’t go without problems.
Just like in Fallout, you can also see how much Nolan enjoys mixing science fiction with a western setting, and how well it works. The futuristic meets the old-fashioned – this also describes Fallout very well.
Westworld has 36 episodes in 4 seasons. Check out the series if you liked the following aspects of Fallout:
- Western-like scenario and cowboys
- Exciting mix of modern and old
- Critique of capitalism
- A world without morals
- The way Jonathan Nolan tells stories
What the IMDb ratings say: Westworld has been rated by 532,458 users with 8.5 stars.
