Scavengers
This is Scavengers: Scavengers will be a multiplayer shooter that places great emphasis on cooperative gameplay and survival. Although Scavengers was announced at E3 2019, many people likely overlooked the shooter.
In Scavengers, you compete in a round with four teams of three players each, as you gear up in rounds of 30-45 minutes that you must safely extract from the area, similar to Escape from Tarkov.
Additionally, you have several characters with unique weapons and abilities that you can select at the beginning to complement the team. You play against other teams, but certain mechanics force you to cooperate with them.
Survival is tough in Scavengers: The survival aspect is somewhat unusual in Scavengers. This is due to the unique gameplay mechanics: You must collect samples from the areas before you can escape. The goal is to collect more samples than other teams.
Only when all teams have collectively gathered a certain number of samples can you extract. However, many of these samples are well-protected by NPCs like zombies and “Outlanders,” so a single team cannot succeed. Thus, cooperation is essential.
This leads to a constant thrill of cooperation and betrayal. You must always keep an eye on whether other players might turn against you at the last moment or whether you can survive by ambushing them.
As if that weren’t enough, extreme temperatures, radiation, and hunger threaten you in the world, all of which need to be addressed. Surviving in Scavengers is therefore a real challenge.
What we expect from Scavengers:
- Focus on cooperation and action
- Short, intense rounds with a clear beginning and end
- Set missions instead of an open world with tasks
- A progress system to improve equipment and heroes
- Strategic team play with different classes and teams
When and where does Scavengers come out? The game is expected to be released in 2020. So far, only PC and “consoles” have been mentioned as platforms. Therefore, we assume it will be for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
