The year 2022 has some highlights in store for MMORPG fans, at least if the developers can stick to their plans. Currently, there are said to be 7 MMORPGs that are supposed to be released.

What kind of list is this? On MeinMMO, we regularly present new MMORPGs that are still set to be released. To keep track of which games are currently in development, we have created this list.
All titles mentioned here have officially announced their release for 2022 in our western region, even though this seems very unlikely as of November. We will tell you what makes the games special and how likely their release is this year.

Justice Online
Setting: Wuxia/Asia | Developer: NetEase | Platform: PC | Release Date: Q4 2022 | Model: Unknown
What kind of game is this? Justice Online is NetEase’s flagship MMORPG, known for Revelation Online and the development of Diablo Immortal. The world is based on a Wuxia novel and offers thrilling “Martial Arts” battles.
Justice Online is particularly distinguished by the following content:
- An extremely detailed character editor without gender lock
- At least 8 different classes – 7 at release and last the class Hong Yin (via YouTube)
- An action-packed combat system without fixed targets
- A very deep story with many choices and cutscenes
- Cool movement types with air jumps and running on water
- A detailed housing system with personal fields and animal husbandry
- Dungeons and raids in PvE
- PvP in various arenas, possibly also in the open world
- A beautiful graphics that relies on ray tracing and mesh shading
Justice Online is reminiscent of Swords of Legends Online, which was released here in 2021. However, it relies on a more dynamic combat system, a completely open game world, and more varied biomes such as deserts or rocky islands with lava.

For whom is it interesting? Justice Online is similar to Swords of Legends in 2021. However, it appears somewhat more modern, dynamic, and has an open world. If you are looking for a new Chinese MMORPG, you should keep an eye on Justice Online. However, at first glance, it does not seem to be a massive hit.
How likely is the release in 2022? 25%. NetEase plans to release it in the west in Q4 2022. NetEase has already brought other games to the west fairly quickly, but it now seems very unlikely, as no marketing campaign has been launched yet.
EGON: Inferna Bellum
Setting: Dark Fantasy | Developer: Round Planet | Platform: PC, Android, iOS | Release Date: 2022 | Model: Unknown
What kind of game is this? EGON: Inferna Bellum was originally announced as Project T and has been in development for several years. The lead is the Korean Kim Yeong-Seong, who was the director at NCSoft for Aion and Lineage 2.
- Played in the isometric perspective like in Lost Ark
- There are 6 different classes you can choose from – Knight, Cleric, Assassin, Warrior, Archer, and Wizard
- There are dungeons and boss raids you can face
- There will be a pet system through which you will become stronger on the battlefield
- In PvP, there are sieges and a battle royale with 1,000 players, which is played until only one person is left alive
The game is being developed in Korea but is slated for a global release, targeting western players as well.
For whom is it interesting? EGON is strongly targeted at fans of Lost Ark, especially in terms of control and aesthetics. However, it appears graphically somewhat weaker, likely due to the adaptation for mobile devices. There will likely also be auto-run for quests on the smartphone. How it will look on PC is currently unknown.
How likely is the release in 2022? 25%. Originally, the release in Korea was planned for 2021, but the coronavirus is said to have disrupted the developers’ plans. A release in Korea is considered quite certain, as players with a corresponding phone number can already pre-register.
However, whether the game will actually come to the west this year is uncertain. Currently, there is not even an international website.
