What kind of game is Conan Exiles? As a criminal, you are hanged on a cross in the desert or exiled to die. However, Conan the Barbarian appears and rescues you – or you suffer a shipwreck, depending on whether you play the Isle of Siptah expansion or not.
In any case, it is up to you what you do with your newly gained freedom. Because everything and everyone in the world wants to kill you, even the world itself. Start naked and try to escape – or make the best of your exile.
How does base building work? You start in Conan Exiles with simple sandstone buildings and can learn to build better buildings as your level increases. Depending on the material, these can better protect you from cold or heat.
The special thing about Conan Exiles is that paid DLCs give you access to special building styles. With Architects of Argos, for example, you receive Greek-inspired building components, while Imperial East brings Chinese-style components.
Is the base important for gameplay? As in most survival games, the base in Conan Exiles serves as a base of operations. Here, you can store resources and build workbenches to craft equipment, break slaves, or tame animals.
As with Valheim, however, it can happen that you are attacked. Depending on the server settings, there can be “cleansings” when you spread too far across the land or undertake adventures. Cleansings announce themselves in advance, giving you the chance to plan your defense.
Many servers also focus on PvP, where there are even siege weapons. If you don’t want another clan to kill you and steal your stuff, you should build wisely.
Who is Conan Exiles suitable for? The entry into the game is somewhat sluggish, as virtually everything is a danger. You should possess a certain tolerance for frustration and resilience when starting anew. However, especially with friends to explore the world, Conan Exiles is excellent. Like Valheim, it also offers a story in the world that you can follow, as well as real dungeons with puzzles and bosses.
