League of Legends – Pre-Season 12
Genre: MOBA | Developer: Riot Games | Platform: PC | Release Date: October 28, 2009 | Model: Free-to-Play
What kind of game is this? League of Legends is one of the most successful PC games in the world. In this MOBA, 5 players from two different teams fight each other in an attempt to dismantle the enemy’s base. The first one to do so wins the match.
On the way, players need to earn gold by killing minions, towers, jungle creatures, or enemy players. For the gold, they can buy items to become stronger.
This rather simple format, combined with the competitive spirit, has made LoL a massive game in eSports. World Championships are sometimes watched by more people than the NBA finals or the Super Bowl.
The highlights of League of Legends
The main highlight of LoL is the relatively simple gameplay that is mixed up with new champions and minor changes each season.
- A match lasts between 20 and 50 minutes
- While the gameplay remains the same, it offers extremely many options to improve
- Currently, over 150 champions are available, which you should at least roughly know as a good player
- There are countless items to build the perfect setup for you
- The leaderboard offers a constant drive to improve
- There are additional modes around the 5v5, such as ARAM or TFT
Who is League of Legends interesting for in November?
In November, LoL will receive the annual pre-season patch. This will implement several minor changes to freshen up the game for the new season starting in January 2022.
For example, two new dragons will come into play – the Hextech and the Chem Drake. They change the terrain and provide new buffs for the respective teams when killed. Additionally, new items will be introduced, and runes will be revised.
The pre-season patch is primarily aimed at all active LoL players. However, it also serves as a good time to give the game another chance. If you are looking for a competitive PvP game with a lot of skill and can handle frustration and bad teammates, you should give LoL another chance in 2021.
However, expect that your teammates might flame, as MeinMMO author Phillip Hansen experienced firsthand:
I played LoL for the first time – They really are that mean, as everyone says
