For most Marvel fans, Avengers: Endgame is a great finale for their favorite heroes. This is mainly due to Thanos, who has posed a threat to the entire universe as a powerful villain. However, there are other major threats in the Marvel universe. We present 7 of them in this list.
How was this list created? In the MCU, Thanos was for a long time the main villain who overshadowed most events in the MCU. He is not just the enemy of a single hero, but of multiple ones. Accordingly, we determined several factors for the list:
- Little to no appearances in the Marvel Cinematic Universe
- The villain should threaten the world or the entire universe with their power
- The villain must be so powerful that multiple heroes are needed to defeat them
In the following list, we show you 7 villains, where they come from and what abilities they actually have. Note that many characters can be stronger or weaker depending on the storyline.
1. Knull
First appearance: Venom (Vol. 4) #3 (2018)
Who is Knull? Knull is essentially the father of all symbiotes. He is an ancient being from darkness who was exiled by the Celestials after killing one of their own. On a distant planet, Knull realized that he could also infect other beings with his symbiotes.
He created a hive mind full of symbiotes that were spread throughout the universe. Unlike his symbiotes, he has only one weakness: light. His goal is to conquer worlds with his symbiotes (via Marvel.com).
What abilities does Knull have?
- He can create and control symbiotes from a distance
- He can also control other beings that utilize darkness, like Cloak
- Knull is almost immortal and possesses infinite knowledge due to his age of nearly 14 billion years
- Superhuman strength that even exceeds gods like Thor
- His Necro-sword, made from his first symbiote, holds incredible power, with which Gorr could even kill gods (via Marvel Database)
2. Galactus
First appearance: Fantastic Four #48 (1965)
Who is Galactus? Galactus was born before the Big Bang as a mortal named Galan. In an incident, he was the only one of his people who did not die but was reborn during the Big Bang.
His ship became an incubation chamber, from which the being Galactus later emerged. As Galactus, he has the ability to drain life energy. However, his hunger constantly grows, which is why he must regularly absorb planets. In general, he holds no grudge against other living beings, even if his infinite hunger could drive him insane (via Marvel.com).
