If you are in Cyberpunk 2077 , you might encounter one or the other familiar face – or a familiar voice. Many well-known YouTubers, streamers, and influencers have landed a role in the new RPG. MeinMMO introduces you to 7 German influencers that you can find in the game.
Are you often on YouTube, Twitch, Twitter, and co. and know every German entity in this area? Then you should keep your eyes open while wandering through Night City.
We have already reported at release about how a streamer found himself in Cyberpunk and was amazed. Such appearances are not only from international streamers but also from German internet stars.
Here we introduce you to the major German influencers that you can discover in some form in Cyberpunk 2077 – either with their own role as NPCs, as voice actors, or with an Easter egg.
Peter from PietSmiet
Who is that? Peter Georg Smits is the founder and namesake of PietSmiet, one of the most famous channels in the German gaming scene on YouTube. PietSmiet is a team of Let’s Players who create and upload videos together.
With over 2.4 million subscribers on the main channel and over a million on the other channels combined, PietSmiet ranks among the largest gaming channels in Germany.
PietSmiet also organizes the live event “Friendly Fire” together with Gronkh and others. This is a marathon livestream where the streamers raise money for a good cause. In the latest Friendly Fire 6 in December 2020, over a million € was raised.
Where can I find Peter? Peter does not appear as a character in the game but has received his own reference. On a poster of the fictional band “Night City Centipede” for their new album “Looming Darkness”, Peter’s face can be seen on a giant centipede.
In a short clip, he shows how he finds himself in the game. Unfortunately, the pun with the English word for centipede was not taken, as he explains: “They didn’t want Centipiet with P-I-E-T because it would be too confusing.”
Lara Loft
Who is that? Lara Katharina Trautmann is a well-known German voice actress, singer, and host who also has hundreds of thousands of followers and subscribers as a gamer on YouTube and Twitch. You probably know her voice from:
- Rise of the Tomb Raider (young Lara Croft)
- Overwatch (Sombra)
- Heroes of the Storm (Lunara)
- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (Kate Laswell)
She also appears as a voice in film and television. Recently, she revealed on Twitter that she voices the role of Zorii Bliss in Star Wars Episode 9.
Where can I find her? Lara has several appearances in Cyberpunk 2077. You can find her as the voice of Joss, River Ward’s sister, in the side quest “The Hunt.” But also as Mox, who lets you in through the back door in Lizzie’s Bar.
She voices additional roles, which she has not disclosed so far.
Gronkh and HandOfBlood
Who is Gronkh? Erik “Gronkh” Range was originally a video game journalist and has been the largest German Let’s Player on YouTube for several years and ranks among the three largest German streamers on Twitch. He is considered a pioneer in the German “Let’s Play” area.
Gronkh’s gaming roots go back to the oldest MMORPG that you can still play: Meridian 59. Here, Gronkh worked as a developer and gamemaster. Since then, he has voiced several games (such as Deponia or Harvey’s New Eyes) and organizes the annual Friendly Fire together with PietSmiet.
Who is HandOfBlood? Maximilian “Hänno” Knabe is also one of the largest Let’s Players in Germany and won the German Web Video Prize in 2016. He is also known as an eSports moderator.
His main channel on YouTube has over 2 million subscribers. Hänno is known for his elaborately and high-quality produced videos, in which he frequently takes on different roles that fit the respective game displayed and plays them out. While he showed Mordhau on his stream, he wore a knight helmet, which severely restricted his vision.
Where can I find the two? Gronkh and Hänno share a common side quest, “Dirty Biz,” in which they play father (Gottfrid) and son (Fredrik). The task is to investigate the murder of a preacher’s son.
For this, you look for the two in their “workshop,” where they create so-called “Braindances” of murders. Users of these dances can then experience the deed live through their implanted technology. The quest is quite short and can have a bloody ending, as HandOfBlood himself shows in a video (starts at minute 19:04):
Anni The Duck
Who is that? Anissa Baddour originally started on Twitch in 2016 before she also began uploading videos on YouTube in 2017. She is known for her gaming affinity and her cosplay content, for which she even offers tutorials. Many of her cosplays can be seen on her Instagram account.
With over 700,000 subscribers on her main channel and another 300,000 on her second channel, she is one of the largest gaming YouTubers in Germany. She also collaborates with other German YouTube personalities like Julien Bam and Rezo.
Where can I find her? AnniTheDuck appears in the side mission “Coin Operated Boy.” There, she voices the role of Theo, a desperate young woman who is apparently also visually modeled after her.
Theo frequently meets with the drink machine Brendon, whom you are supposed to save during the story. Peter from PietSmiet shows the entire process in a video:
Maxi Gräff
Who is that? Maxi Gräff is the Marketing Communication Manager of Xbox for Microsoft in the areas of Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. Previously, she worked as an editor with our colleagues from GameStar.
Due to her affinity for gaming, she is also quite well known among players. Her Instagram account has nearly 20,000 subscribers and many gamers follow her on Twitter for faster access to important info. For example, in September 2020, she confirmed the price of the Xbox Series S on Twitter.
Where can I find her? Maxi has her own NPC in Cyberpunk 2077, whom you can randomly encounter on the streets of Night City. MeinMMO editor Leya Jankowski stumbled upon her while playing and captured her directly with the photo mode:
Fabian Mario Döhla
Who is that? Fabian Döhla works in the area of public relations and social media at CD Projekt Red, the developers and publishers of Cyberpunk 2077. Döhla himself has been in the gaming industry for a long time and is known, especially since he leaked the final design of the Xbox from Microsoft in a TV show of Giga in 2000.
Today, he serves as a source of information for many journalists and gaming enthusiasts. On Twitter, he has over 50,000 followers and his Instagram account is also well visited. He frequently tweets news and useful information about Cyberpunk.
Where can I find him? A street in Night City is reportedly named after Fabian (via Twitter). However, we cannot say where exactly. Unfortunately, we have not found it yet. Maybe you will have better luck.
