What is the anime about? 17 years ago, the first Ajin appeared in Africa. These are immortal humans who, due to their mysterious powers, are classified as a threat. Therefore, every Ajin is immediately captured and imprisoned.
Kei Nagai initially has not much to do with Ajins, as he studies hard to become a doctor. One day, however, he gets involved in an accident where he should have died. He discovers that he himself is an Ajin – and flees from his hunters.
Why should the hero have been dead? If Kei Nagai were not an Ajin, he would have died in the very first episode. He is run over by a truck and regenerates his wounds in a mysterious way.
Normally, Kei would not have resurrected and would not have had to hide from his hunters. The entire anime would never have taken place – or had to be rewritten as Isekai.
