A 69-year-old streamer of the MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV documented his attempts to master the Anabaseios raid series on YouTube when he was suddenly surprised by the creator of the series.
What was that situation like? The 69-year-old streamer goes by “Pokochii BigMum” on Twitter and primarily streams Final Fantasy XIV on YouTube. In a stream from July 18, he was facing the Anabaseios raids on epic difficulty.
During a brief break between attempts, the Japanese streamer received a surprising visit in their chat: Hironobu Sakaguchi, the creator of Final Fantasy, personally stopped by to cheer on the streamer.

How did the exchange between the two go? The conversation between the streamer and the father of Final Fantasy took place in Japanese, but one doesn’t need to be proficient in the language to hear the disbelief and joy in the voice of the 69-year-old as a simple “Nice to meet you, I am Sakaguchi” appears in his chat.
Afterwards, the just nine years younger Sakaguchi spoke about his own experiences with the raid. He and his group were actually in the same spot as Pokochii and his group. He concluded by saying to the streamer, “Let’s do our best!”
We have embedded the stream here for you. The surprise visit in the chat occurs around 02:31:00.
After the conversation, the 69-year-old streamer dove into his next attempt with newfound motivation.
Sakaguchi himself mentioned the exchange later on Twitter, potentially dispelling any doubts about the authenticity of the chat visit. Apparently, he had treated himself to a new haircut the same day and was enjoying the nice weather – it makes raiding much better.
While Pokochii at the age of 69 is still actively streaming, other content creators are slowly feeling their age. The LoL streamer Tyler1 hit his limits during a 24-hour stream and promised: He would never do this again.
