6 weapon exotics in Destiny 2 that have their own consciousness – do you know them?

In Destiny 2 there are plenty of cool weapons, and some of them are even alive. MeinMMO presents here 6 of these sentient or conscious Exotics.

What is this about? The exotic weapons are one of the hallmarks of Destiny with their unique characteristics. The Guardians love their special guns. The story expert My Name is Byf has examined a few of these firearms more closely and identified 6 Exotics that have their own consciousness or are somehow alive.

In this list, you will find two types of emotional weapons. Either a highly developed AI or a mysterious god gives these guns that special touch. We will briefly introduce you to each weapon and show you the story behind their consciousness.

These 4 weapon Exotics have sentient AIs

Many centuries ago, a Golden Age ruled in Destiny. From this long-gone time, some powerful artificial intelligences (AIs) still exist. The most famous among them is the dubious Warmind Rasputin, with whom players currently must ally in Season 10. But alongside these machine deities, we also carry one or another AI as a weapon.

Relentless – the learning killing machine

This weapon is about: The exotic fusion rifle Relentless was a true killer in the early days of Destiny 2. The reason is two characteristics that make the Exotic increasingly lethal during combat:

• Movement Conservation – Upon non-lethal hits, the weapon reloads faster until the player gets a kill.
• Impetus – Reloading immediately after a kill increases damage for a short time.

Here’s the situation with the AI: Relentless was created as a weapon designed to learn from its mistakes. This also explains its exotic perks. If a kill is not achieved, the fusion rifle recognizes that its lethal task has not been fulfilled and attempts to achieve its target more effectively.

The AI is supposed to kill everything on the battlefield – and do it as well as possible. If enemies remain alive after the initial executions, damage will again increase after necessary reloading to handle further threats – a cruel, never-ending, and learning machine.

MIDA Multi-Tool & MIDA Mini-Tool – The Swiss Army Knives

This weapon is about: The MIDA Multi-Tool has been regarded as a real all-rounder since Destiny 1. In Destiny 2, the MIDA Mini-Tool is added as a sidearm, and together the list of useful features is quite long:

• Both weapons provide you with speed boosts
• The radar remains active even while aiming
• Large caliber rounds push enemies back
• The Multi-Tool also has aim assist at 100 / 100 and handling or reload speed stats over 80 / 100.

Among the attributes felt in the game, the weapon descriptions promote numerous other applications. These even include some rather curious weapon functions: flashlights, water purifiers, interplanetary positioning systems, as well as rescue buoyancy devices or excavation tools are integrated.

Here’s the situation with the AI: The origin of the AIs can no longer be traced back, but during conflicts on Mars, the MIDA weapons have protected their users and kept them alive through their diverse applications and functions without direct command.

An example from the lore entries shows how a dying fighter could turn ice into drinking water using thermal and cleaning rounds. The weapon guides its bearer out of danger zones, prompting the fighter to wonder if the weapon can read their thoughts.

Even this AI marvel could not save me […] I wonder if the weapon heard me when I expressed the thought of finding a better camp. Why did it bring me here?

D.A.R.C.I. – Well-connected weapon seeks partner for life

This weapon is about: The exotic sniper rifle D.A.R.C.I. is the best weapon for reconnaissance in Destiny 2. This is made possible by the following perks:

• Personal Assistant – Locks onto an opponent to see their health and other important info in the scope.
• Target Acquisition – When “Personal Assistant” is active, target acquisition is improved and the weapon inflicts greater precision damage.

Here’s the situation with the AI: The sniper longs for a worthy bearer, a “partner” on the battlefield. Through its consciousness, the AI analyzes enemy weaknesses – this explains the exotic perks.

Intelligent weapons like D.A.R.C.I. have even formed a society. This network of thinking firearms analyzes their bearers just like enemies and shares insights about our Guardian behavior. According to lore text, they register whether the bearer prematurely leaves a PVP match or lets other Guardians do the work in a strike.

Where the name D.A.R.C.I. comes from, the weapon explains itself:
