5. Greg – The ogre who must take it all
This is who we’re talking about: Greg’s real name is actually Golmuut and he is the boss from a Lost Sector on Titan.

This is how tough the boss fight is: Golmuut is a typical ogre and not particularly difficult – this fight is the easiest on our list. His most potent weapon is the annoying “stomping”.
The Lost Sector he rules is also not particularly hard or long. Why does an average ogre have such a reputation in the Destiny community and even a nickname?
Why is Greg cult? The poor ogre has to serve as a test subject for almost all weapon tests of the Guardians. With Greg, they experiment with how much damage the latest exotic can produce or what combination of abilities is currently meta.
Although Destiny 2 has its own shooting range, Greg is the walking shooting range. He is also ideally suited for such tests:
- The Lost Sector is very short and can be quickly accessed and exited
- The location can be quickly reached from the spawn
- Greg has a massive hitbox
- The smaller adds nearby are ideal for stacking buffs and triggering kill perks
As the Titan will soon depart from Destiny 2, Guardians even demand that Greg move and remain for the community.
Before we get to the last boss on our list, we want to mention a particularly nasty piece of work.
Honorable Mention: A lawnmower causes nightmares
This is who we’re talking about: Tr3-VR is a killer robot, most comparable to a lawnmower gone haywire. The monstrosity lurks in the grand Mission Zero Hour.
However, this thing is not a boss in the traditional sense – but it has caused more panic than many of the raid bosses combined.
This is why the encounter is so tough: Tr3-VR patrols in a dark, underground labyrinth and races through narrow tunnels at breakneck speed. If a Guardian crosses its path, it’s game over on contact.
With the pressure of death lurking constantly and everywhere, players must find 4 switches in the labyrinth and make it to the exit unscathed.
Why is Trevor cult? Another nickname? Yes, even Tr3-VR has earned a nickname in the community. When Guardians first encountered the robot, the screams were deafening.
Trevor transformed Destiny into a horror game: A crushing noise heralds that something deadly is nearby – as if the claustrophobic tunnels weren’t bad enough. A red light flickers through the darkness and a siren sounds… Trevor hungers for Guardians.

6. Oryx – The villain by which all must be measured
This is who we’re talking about: Oryx, the Taken King, is the Hive God and Destiny’s most famous villain. Oryx has terrorized the universe for millennia and has come to take bloody revenge for the death of his son Crota.
During the Taken King expansion of Destiny 1, he brings the solar system to the brink of destruction, must be fought in the campaign, and ultimately defeated in the raid King’s Fall.
This is how tough the boss fight is: Oryx presents the Guardians with a variety of challenges in his raid. Especially the jumping puzzles made the attackers break out in a sweat.
In the final boss fight, the main responsibility rests on a single Guardian who must hop across platforms at dizzying heights armed with a sword. Other players must deal with ogres, avoid Oryx’s massive fist, and fight their way out of a shadow dimension.
The final fight can comfortably be classified as hard, as the many mechanics quickly punished a mistake with a wipe. When the fight against Oryx was on hard mode, many Guardians gave up and waited a week to take down the boss.
Why is Oryx cult? Oryx is the perfect example of a boss. He presents players with tough challenges, has a fabulously written story, and looks imposing.
In the campaign, the winged terror wasn’t small either, but the encounter in the raid breaks the scale – only Riven surpasses the King in size.
The colossus also triggers an extreme feel-good reward upon his defeat. After a final standoff, he can no longer maintain himself in the arena and sails into the vastness of space. He gets smaller and smaller while the Guardians pounce on the loot.
In general, the Taken King expansion is considered the best Destiny DLC and gave the MMO shooter a second spring. Many players had as much fun as they hadn’t had since the glorious early days.
The power vacuum left by Oryx’s demise is still not fully filled and will occupy the Destiny universe for several years to come. In 2021, his sister, Savathûn, will finally emerge from the shadows and seek revenge on the Guardians.
Which boss left a lasting impression on you? Do you think Destiny 2 will bring memorable adversaries into the game soon with Savathûn and Eramis?
