3. Crota – How a boss became a joke
This is who we’re talking about: Crota, Son of Oryx, is a Hive God who has nested on our Earth Moon. Here, the sword-wielding boss must be put to rest in the raid Crota’s End.
This is how tough the boss fight is: Crota can only be approached with a sword that Guardians must take from Hive knights. Then, one player can duel the boss – however, the God doesn’t play fair and is initially immune to the sword.
What sounds like a tough battle is, in practice, the easiest raid fight in Destiny. It also fits that the raid is often laughed at as a somewhat longer strike. In Destiny 2, you can also encounter Crota as a nightmare on the Moon.
Why is Crota cult? Crota initiated a brand-new playstyle in Destiny: Crota Challenges. Guardians defeated the boss solo or sometimes sprinted through the strike, uh, raid alone. Over time, the Crota kills became more absurd.
The Hive God was defeated using guitars or drums as controllers. Even against a dance battle controller, Crota was defeated and danced to death.
Even though Crota doesn’t shine through his size or difficulty, he has added a cult facet to Destiny. By the way, his murder made someone quite evil very angry, significantly influencing the later story.
4. Omnigul – A witch with a voice to fall in love with
This is who we’re talking about: Omnigul is a nasty Hive witch and the boss in the strike Will of Crota. She is the right hand of raid boss Crota and prepared for his arrival.
This is how tough the boss fight is: Although Omnigul only leads a strike and not a raid, the fight is among the hardest in its weight class in the game. Crota’s General is considered by many to be even stronger than her boss in the Nightfall variant.
The witch bombards players from a distance and sends an endless army of adds against the players. Particularly, the suicide Hive spread fear and terror.
The fight looked something like this: 3 Guardians squeezed into a broom closet-sized storage room because it was relatively safe and yelped about which direction explosives were coming from. Every few seconds, they dared to approach Omnigul to hit her with a super or power weapon – then they would crowd back into the safe room.
Why is Omnigul cult? Omnigul greeted each encounter with a bone-chilling scream – especially for headset users, this got burned directly into their brains through the ear cups.
Despite her difficulty and loud organ, Omnigul was farmed repeatedly. This was the only way for Guardians to obtain one of the best legendary weapons, the Grasp of Malok.
On the next page, you will find a Destiny 2 boss who has probably endured more than Crota and the ultimate villain. Oh, and there is even a creepy bonus.
