Why is this game worth it: The Witcher 3 offers a top-notch narrated story combined with great music and a dynamic combat system. Fans of the previous games or the books will especially enjoy this one. Even outside the main quest, the game offers plenty to do, including numerous quests and challenges, a lively and varied game world, and a crafting system.
What is not so successful: The Witcher 3 is stunning on the PlayStation 4, but the performance demands are noticeable. Occasionally, there are frame drops, and loading times can sometimes be very long.
Many past events are referenced, and you can also carry over save files and decisions. This is not a direct disadvantage, but we would recommend playing the predecessors or reading the books. Alternatively, at the very least, one should look at a short story summary of parts 1 and 2.
For whom is The Witcher 3 suitable? The game is highly recommended for any role-player looking for a strong story or interesting characters. Gamely, The Witcher 3 certainly hides one of the best role-playing games of recent years.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim VR Edition

What is The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition? This game is an optimized version for modern consoles. The story takes place in the region of Skyrim, which is on the brink of a civil war. However, players have the freedom to choose how they navigate through the open world and which quests and tasks they undertake.
Why is this game worth it: The Elder Scrolls V offers a comprehensive role-playing experience. Besides a believable game world and many tasks to complete, the game provides extensive, free character development. The game also includes all three add-ons, so you’ll easily be occupied for over 150 hours until you’ve seen and discovered everything.
In the VR edition, the game fully relies on the VR effect. However, PlayStation VR and a PlayStation Camera are required.
What is less successful? You can see that the game is quite old: The character models are outdated, and the animations look stiff and no longer current. Technical errors also disturb the gaming experience. The main story is not very spectacular. In VR, the game clearly shows its age, and the engine is not the newest anymore.

Dark Souls Remastered

What is Dark Souls Remastered? Dark Souls Remastered is an action RPG that takes you into the world of Lordran. There, you fight in third person against enemies and particularly challenging bosses. Compared to its predecessor, the remastered version mainly offers technical improvements, such as new textures and improved lighting effects. On PS4 Pro, even upscaling to 4K is possible. The next game Elden Ring from FromSoftware could head in the same direction as Dark Souls.
Why is this game worth it: Dark Souls offers an extensive game world with a lot to discover. The world is dark and atmospheric. The game features a comprehensive character system with many freedoms and emphasizes a challenging difficulty level. A real highlight are the bosses: each one is uniquely designed and demands everything from you; therefore, defeating one of the bosses is all the more satisfying.
What is less successful: Despite the remastered version, the game shows its age clearly. The animations are clunky, and the graphics are no longer state-of-the-art. The difficulty level is extremely high, and anyone who does not engage deeply with the game will regularly be confronted with trial & error moments. The exciting story is somewhat vague and unclear and only becomes truly understandable with external reading.
For whom is Dark Souls Remastered suitable? Dark Souls Remastered is especially suitable for players who are willing to deal with a high level of difficulty and do not mind a confusing story. Especially fans of the sequels or Bloodborne and Remnant: From the Ashes who have yet to play Dark Souls should give it a look. Those who persevere will be rewarded with a comprehensive RPG that offers deep character development and also provides plenty of discoverable content. And who knows, maybe there will soon even be a battle royale game from the makers of Dark Souls.

Diablo III: Eternal Collection

What is Diablo III? The third installment of the series again leads players to fight against Diablo. In the process, you collect increasingly powerful equipment and experience points to become stronger yourself.
In typical hack & slay fashion, you fight through thousands of enemies in isometric perspective (“top-down”). On the console, there is also a local multiplayer mode that the PC version does not offer.
Why is this game worth it: The usual addiction spiral of Diablo III catches players again on the console. Improving heroes, collecting better gear, and defeating countless enemies. This works flawlessly on the PS4, thanks in part to the atmospheric setting. A comprehensive crafting system and a good inventory complete the overall picture.
As a bonus, the local coop mode is also added, making Diablo III one of the best couch co-op games of 2020. This is not available in the PC version and is reserved for consoles. Meanwhile, the game remains fluid and stable despite the effects.
What is less successful: The character development is superficial and undemanding. There is little to allocate, and leveling up offers the player few options to customize their character. Other RPGs offer significantly more role-playing elements than Diablo III. Also annoying is the cumbersome item exchange, as there is no real trading system; instead, items must be dropped for the other player to pick up. Meanwhile, Diablo III has reached season 21 and it’s about time for Diablo IV.
For whom is the game suitable? If you are a fan of hack & slay games and enjoy fast-paced and action-packed battles, you should check out Diablo III. The controls are precise and intuitive, and it is not for nothing that Diablo III is considered one of the best action RPGs for consoles. Ni No Kuni Remastered

What is Ni No Kuni? Ni No Kuni Remastered is the revised version of the PS3 game that was exclusive back in the day. With the remastered version, part 1 now also makes it to the PS4. The game tells the story of young Oliver, who travels between two worlds to rescue his mother. Along the way, he learns spells and meets many new friends.
Why is this game worth it: Even in the remastered edition, Ni No Kuni tells a captivating and believable story. This includes the wonderful and lovingly crafted characters and the music by Joe Hisaishi, who is mainly known for his music for Studio Ghibli films. The Pokémon-like gameplay motivates players to collect many creatures. If you complete the story, you’ll also be occupied for more than 50 hours.
What is less successful: Finding, collecting, and leveling up the numerous creatures can lead to quite a bit of grind as the game progresses. This also applies to side quests that require you to search for a specific number of items. In tight caves and spaces, such as the sewers of Ding Dong Dell, the camera control is unclear. Also unfortunate: There is no German voice acting.
For whom is the game suitable? If you like JRPGs and are a fan of Ghibli films, you will likely find great enjoyment in Ni No Kuni. Collectors of small beings among you should also find themselves occupied for many hours with the game.

Nioh – Complete Edition

What is Nioh? In Nioh, you take on the role of the protagonist William Adams, who travels to 16th-century Japan in pursuit of an evil alchemist. There, two samurai fight for supremacy. This has also allowed demons to invade the human world. Nioh is a game that follows the Soulslike tradition: the difficulty level is challenging and demanding.
Why is this game worth it: Nioh offers not only a versatile RPG but also a complex combat system. Each weapon feels noticeably different and can make battles significantly easier. The backdrop of the game is atmospheric, as are the good cutscenes. Additionally, the game boasts a long playtime and also provides a coop mode.
What is less successful: A European pirate fighting demons in feudal Japan and heavily involved with mythological forces? Yes, Nioh is chaotic and bombards you with information, making it confusing and not very transparent. Graphically, the game does not shine anymore, but it offers a stable 60 FPS on PS4 Pro. Also unfortunate is that the game does not provide German voice acting.
For whom is the game suitable? If you enjoy games like Dark Souls and also appreciate dark RPGs, you should take a look at Nioh. The combination of mythological and historical content is also worth a look, even if the many details about protective spirits and demons can be confusing, especially at the beginning.
