Reason 6: Available on Almost All Major Platforms
In February 2026, news circulated (for instance, here at forbes.com) that Sony approached Pearl Abyss with a remarkable offer. Apparently, the Japanese corporation wanted to position itself as a publisher to make Crimson Desert an exclusive game for PlayStation 5.
The game would then not have been allowed to appear on Xbox for a year. The PC sales rights would likely have also landed with Sony. However, the developers responded with a rejection and are taking the publishing into their own hands.
As a result, you can play Crimson Desert on almost all major platforms upon release, although there are still some question marks. It remains unclear, for example, whether and how well the game will run on the Steam Deck. There are also uncertainties regarding the supported performance and resolutions for consoles since the developers seem to be still working on optimizations.
