Reason 5: Buy Once, Play Forever
The quasi-predecessor Black Desert has a rather poor reputation regarding its payment model. Accordingly, many MMO experts have looked at Crimson Desert with caution for a long time. However, it has recently become clear that in the new open-world adventure we’re not expecting a service model with an in-game shop, battle pass, or other forms of microtransactions.
Instead, Crimson Desert follows an old-school model: You buy the game, perhaps even pre-order it, and that’s it for the time being. All buyers have access to all content in the respective version.
Only if Crimson Desert becomes a success could further paid DLCs or expansions follow, or updates that might bring a co-op or multiplayer mode. However, nothing is set in stone yet. You can find details about the various versions in our overview of Crimson Desert.
