Arena of Valor
Arena of Valor has already been released in Asia and quickly achieved enormous success there. Especially children and young people could not get enough of the game, which has already led to problems with the government in China.
MOBA gameplay on the smartphone
MOBA fans should find their way in Arena of Valor right away. After all, publisher Tencent has already acquired LoL developer Riot Games and thus has the necessary experience. The control on the smartphone works intuitively via touchscreen, and even complex maneuvers and skill shots are easy to execute.
As in most MOBAs, Arena of Valor has three lanes and a jungle in between. There are also three different gameplay modes and currently over 40 playable heroes. The heroes can be purchased with real money but are mostly also unlockable through gameplay progression. A handful of characters are available for free.
MOBA for “in between” thanks to quick rounds
On PC, MOBAs usually take about half an hour. Arena of Valor is much faster. How long a round lasts in each game mode is roughly as follows:
- 5V5 “Big Battle”: 5 vs 5 mode with three lanes and jungle. Lasts about 12-18 minutes.
- 3V3 “Skirmish”: A quick mini-game. Lasts about 4-6 minutes.
- 5V5 “Shadow Canyon”: In this mode, you fight only in the middle lane with a randomly selected hero. This lasts about 8-12 minutes.
Cool detail: The soundtrack of Arena of Valor comes from professional Hollywood composer Hans Zimmer. He has composed scores for movies such as Pirates of the Caribbean.
