Soon it will be time and players from Destiny 2 can finally stroll again on the Dreadnaught of the Taken King “Oryx” and learn fear in his raid. We show you 6 weapons that you should definitely pack for the raid to be prepared for anything.
What kind of weapons are these? In this guide, we list various weapons that you will need in the respective encounters (phases) of the raid. We explain where exactly they are best used and why.
We have chosen the following firearms:
If you want to learn more about the “Day One” run, with dates and things you need to keep in mind, you should switch to our overview:
The Divinity
For which phases is it good? The Divinity is particularly useful for the Warpriest phases and against the Daughters of Oryx. It simplifies your damage phases since these bosses tend to move around too much.
However, against Golgoroth and Oryx, you should prefer not to use the laser rifle. The mechanics behind their boss fights are more complex, and therefore, the use of the gun is simply not worth it.
Sleeper Simulant
For which phases is it good? The Sleeper Simulant can be used effectively in all boss phases. Especially for Golgoroth, this weapon is a good choice because you need to shoot precisely at its weak point in its stomach.
However, keep in mind that without Divinity, the weak points of your enemies become much smaller. So you need to be a good shooter to inflict considerable damage.
Gjallarhorn
For which phases is it good? The Gjallarhorn can primarily perform well against the Warpriest, the Daughters of Oryx, and during the final encounter with Oryx himself.
Thanks to its catalyst, the Gjallarhorn can hold two rockets. This helps you since during the final fight against the king, you will be standing on plates and need to quickly deal with your ogres to prevent them from wandering out of their puddle.
Izanagi’s Burden
For which phases is it good? For all phases where you can shoot accurately at your boss. Izanagi’s Burden is especially worthwhile for players who prefer to carry a legendary heavy weapon in their slot.
A solid weapon choice, but the catalyst should definitely be fully unlocked; otherwise, the sniper is not worth it.
A Useful Machine Gun
For which phases is it good? A useful machine gun should be taken for the initial or Glyph phase. It makes dealing with the many smaller groups of enemies that constantly spawn easier.
However, the most important thing is that the rage bearer in the boss fight against Golgoroth definitely needs a MG. The ogre releases many small homing taken orbs during damage phases that seek to kill the rage bearer.
Since the rage bearer must stand in one spot, you need a weapon that can quickly and efficiently eliminate these orbs. This ensures a smooth damage phase.
Stormchaser
For which phases is it good? For all damage phases where you want to carry a legendary heavy weapon. With this linear fusion rifle, you can deal massive damage and still have room for an exotic weapon in the primary or secondary slot.
Note that we are only giving you a recommendation; we do not want to impose any dogma but rather provide you with examples of how you can approach the respective phases. If you have other weapons in your loadout that are better, feel free to share your tips and recommendations in the comments for other players.
