Peria Chronicles
Setting: Anime-Fantasy | Developer: Nexon | Announcement: 2012 | Cancellation: 2019 | Planned Platforms: PC
What was Peria Chronicles supposed to be? The MMORPG with an anime graphic style was supposed to take place in a large fantasy world that you would have explored together with friends. The battles against monsters were supposed to offer something special. It would have been possible to tame the creatures called Kirana and use them in combat.
Additionally, there should have been quests and typical MMORPG elements such as character development through skills and the search for better equipment.
What was the special feature? Peria Chronicles wanted to allow players to create their own floating islands. NPCs would live there and dungeons would be created, which other players would then visit to experience adventures.
Why was it canceled? Although Peria Chronicles was already in a beta phase and Nexon had already invested more than 8 million US dollars, it was canceled. The reasons were
- poor performance
- too little content
- a boring combat system
- and too much grind.
Furthermore, Nexon is going through a restructuring phase, which affects several projects of the company, including Peria Chronicles.
