In the Open Beta of Battlefield 2042, numerous technical shortcomings occurred. In the subreddit for Battlefield 2042, developer DICE has already addressed some issues and mentioned fixes before the release.
While many testers had a lot of fun in the Open Beta of Battlefield 2042, there were still numerous complaints about technical flaws, bugs, and errors.
In the subreddit for Battlefield 2042, F8RGE responded to numerous questions about specific errors and tried to reassure them: The beta build of Battlefield 2042 is several months old (via reddit.com), many of the known issues have already been fixed or are expected to be addressed by the release.
The reddit user peanutmanak47 (via reddit.com) has now compiled several of these responses and presented an overview of the announced fixes. Here are 7 issues from the beta that are expected to be resolved by launch.
1. Elevators will function properly
What is the problem? In the beta, it was difficult to find a properly functioning elevator. The doors did not close correctly, were delayed, or one could simply walk through them.
Overall, elevators on the Orbital map were frequently bugged, as this clip shows:
However, elevators are expected to function properly by the release, and these errors should be a thing of the past.
2. Score distribution should function correctly
What is the problem? Normally, in a Battlefield match, you receive points not only for kills or capturing points but also for other things that benefit the team. These include, among others:
- Healing team members
- Providing ammunition
- Transport assists
- Spawning team members at your location
However, in the beta of Battlefield 2042, this is not the case. This should also be functioning by the release, allowing players to earn their deserved support points.
3. Reviving and picking up weapons
What is the problem? Especially in the PC version, it often happened that you could not revive other players or pick up weapons.
The input with “E” is sometimes simply not registered by the game. This is particularly frustrating in a match when you want to revive other team members in the heat of battle, and it just doesn’t work.
By release, this input is expected to work seamlessly.
4. Bunny hopping and sliding should be toned down
What is the problem? In the beta of Battlefield 2042, currently, two methods of movement are very popular, but they were not intended by the developers:
- One example is a 23-year-old shooter trick, bunny hopping. Players use repeated jumping in combination with grappling hooks to move quickly around the map and gain an advantage in combat.
- Sliding has a similar effect. It makes players faster than just sprinting and can provide a significant chance bonus in fights against unprepared opponents.
Apparently, DICE is working on restricting both and redesigning them to have less impact on gameplay.
5. Weapon and soldier customization should work in the menu
What is the problem? In Battlefield 2042, you can customize your specialists with various weapons and gadgets. Unfortunately, in the beta, this was only possible in the middle of a match.
In the final game, you should be able to access and customize your soldiers directly from the main menu, just like in previous installments.
6. FPS drop when aiming down sights will be fixed
What is the problem? A player noticed in the beta that the frame rate drops when aiming through the sights of a weapon. (via reddit.com)
The curious problem does not only occur when aiming. In the video, you can see how his FPS drop from 60 to around 45 just because he draws a weapon with a sight. While aiming, FPS drops even further, from 45 to as low as 19 FPS.
This issue has already been fixed by DICE, but the fix did not make it into the beta.
More interesting information: In addition to these fixes, DICE also commented on several other matters during the beta, such as the issue of animations.
There was often criticism of the new melee animation in Battlefield 2042, which many players do not like. Although they considered reverting to the old animations, there are no concrete plans for this.
Additionally, the animations for getting into vehicles, which were present in Battlefield V, have been deliberately omitted. It fit the setting of BFV, but for BF2042, they opted for a faster version. There is simply no animation so that players can drive as quickly as possible.
