New MMOs are often announced with great fanfare, piquing interest in learning more about them. However, as time goes by, updates become sparse. We present to you six such online games that are unlikely to ever be released.
You know the situation: A really cool MMO gets announced, it looks amazing, but suddenly there’s no more news, and you get the impression that it will never be released.
This is the case with this selection of online games that we present due to their grand announcements and the ever-sparser updates.
Age of Wushu 2
Genre: Sandbox MMORPG | Developer: Snail Games | Platform: PC | Release Date: None officially announced | Model: Unknown
What is Age of Wushu 2? The sequel to one of the most well-known Wuxia MMORPGs is this time focused on survival. However, do not think of games like ARK or Conan Exiles. Survival in Age of Wushu 2 means successfully navigating your own path and mastering it without failing.
In doing so, you will explore a vast open sandbox world, learn martial arts, fight against other players, and improve your hero. The battles are said to rely heavily on combos and therefore resemble the beat ’em up Street Fighter.
How has the development progressed so far? In summer 2016, Snail Games announced Age of Wushu 2. While a release date wasn’t specified, the pre-registration for the beta in 2017 hinted at a release in 2018 or 2019.
The developers also shared a number of details in 2017 regarding the large game world and the combat system, but suddenly news regarding the MMORPG ceased.
Why might the release never happen? There have been no new updates about the game since 2017. This is quite strange. No gameplay footage has been shown either. Has development been halted? Were there significant changes to the gameplay? What is happening? All of these questions do not bode well for a potential release of Age of Wushu 2.
