What makes the movement so special? Battlefield 2042 was not the game that many fans wished for in many respects. Nevertheless, you have to give DICE’s shooter one thing: the movement is fast and fun.
Especially in comparison to previous titles in the popular shooter series, Battlefield 1 and V, the movement is significantly faster and more flexible. But titles like CS2, Rainbow Six: Siege, or PUBG cannot keep up with the agility of Battlefield 2042.
Sprinting is quite fast in Battlefield 2042. Additionally, you can also slide and jump. The movement is complemented by different abilities of individual playable characters – including a grappling hook and a wingsuit.
Destiny 2 (PvP)
What kind of game is this?
- A loot shooter from Bungie with three different classes (Hunter, Warlock, Titan) that have different abilities.
- There is a PvE story with various missions that are continued through DLCs and seasons, as well as dungeons and raids.
- In PvP, you either fight in Gambit or in the Crucible. In the Crucible, there are classic arena modes where you have to eliminate players from the opposing team or capture a zone.
Destiny 2 is probably not the classic shooter that many PvP fans have in mind when it comes to fast movement. Many likely associate Destiny more with PvE content and the grind for better loot. Nevertheless, Destiny 2 also has PvP content where you must prove your skills. And here, the movement of the actual loot shooter plays a big role.
What makes the movement special? Those who do not incorporate jumping, running, and sliding well into their battles and do not keep moving constantly will quickly find their limits in PvP in Destiny 2.
XDefiant
What kind of game is this?
- XDefiant is an arena shooter from Ubisoft, whose major selling point is the lack of SBMM in casual modes. For matches with SBMM, there is a separate ranked mode.
- It features well-known arena modes like domination, capture the flag, or team deathmatch.
- The classes are derived from different franchises of Ubisoft games. For example, there are the Cleaners from The Division, DEDSEC from Watch Dogs, and Echelon from Splinter Cell.
- The maps are also inspired by various Ubisoft franchises.
- On September 25, 2024, Season 2 of XDefiant started.
What defines the movement? Basically, XDefiant doesn’t do anything special. It has no grappling hooks or dashes, no wingsuits, and no simple dropshotting. You can sprint and slide. Nevertheless, Ubisoft’s arena shooter impresses with its fluid movement.
A significant feature of the movement in XDefiant is the ability to change your direction during a jump.
Bonus tip: Out of Action
What kind of game is this?
- Out of Action is a first-person shooter from an indie developer and is set to be released on Steam in 2025 – that’s why it is only included as a bonus tip in this list.
- Upon full release, Out of Action is primarily focused on PvP. There will be no campaign, but a single-player playlist against AI.
- There will be familiar team modes as well as free-for-all.
- The idea behind Out of Action is to focus gameplay on extreme movement.
What defines the movement? The movement is quite comparable to the omni-movement in CoD: Black Ops 6. You should be able to sprint, slide, and jump in all directions.
