Those who search their PokéDex in Pokémon GO will always find gaps. A total of 59 monsters are still missing to complete all 5 generations. What Pokémon are these and what makes them special?
This is what we will discuss: We will show you all Pokémon that are currently not available in the game, even though their generation has already been released.
While there are still some missing monsters in the 5th generation, the 3rd and 4th generations also have a few gaps. However, these generations feature quite special Pokémon.
Kecleon – The missing Pokémon from Gen 3
What is missing in Gen 3? The only Pokémon from the Hoenn region that is not yet in the game is called Kecleon. It is number 352 in the PokéDex and is a gap for everyone in Pokémon GO.
What makes Kecleon so special? This Pokémon can be somewhat compared to Ditto. Unlike Ditto, it can adapt to its environment. It simply changes its body color and “merges” with its surroundings.
Why is Kecleon not yet in the game? The Pokémon could pose challenges to Niantic similar to those faced with Ditto or type-changing Pokémon. How do you implement it into the game and, more importantly, how does its ability to camouflage affect gameplay?
It seems Niantic is still working on this, so we have to wait a bit longer for Kecleon.
These 5 Pokémon from Gen 4 are still missing
Rotom: This Pokémon can transform into various electrical devices. In addition to its base form, there are 5 other forms like a microwave or a lawnmower Rotom.
Last September, there were heated discussions about a Rotom release. Niantic posted mysterious tweets indicating this. However, nothing came of it, and thus we are still waiting for a release.
Rotom might possibly appear this year at Halloween. After all, it is a Ghost-type Pokémon, and in the last two years, there was a special research involving Kryppuk. This could very well switch to Rotom in 2020.
Phione and Manaphy: These are two mysterious Pokémon from the 4th generation. They are somewhat related, as a Manaphy can breed with Ditto, resulting in an egg that contains Phione.
Thus, the two mysterious Pokémon are associated with breeding, which currently does not exist in Pokémon GO. Perhaps Niantic is still waiting for a release of both Pokémon.
Otherwise, mysterious Pokémon do not appear in the usual way. Until now, they have only come through special researches or raids. The two Pokémon have never appeared. Now we are already in the 5th generation, which suggests that something bigger is planned with both monsters.
Shaymin: This is also a mysterious Pokémon, which is not quite normal. It actually has two forms: the Land Form and the Sky Form. It is therefore similar to Deoxys.
Niantic may be planning something here, allowing a permanent transformation between forms, which cannot be done with Deoxys. Otherwise, Shaymin would also be a good candidate for an upcoming special research.
Arceus: This mysterious Pokémon is considered the creator of the Pokémon universe and thus holds a divine status. It also has a very special ability, as it can assume any type in the game.
Implementation issues could arise here as well. Essentially, 18 different forms of Arceus would need to be added, which could be quite difficult. It seems Niantic is still contemplating this.
These 53 Pokémon from the 5th generation are still missing
The list of missing Pokémon from the Unova region is still quite long. Therefore, we will list all “normal” Pokémon in bullet points. They have no special features and could therefore come in one of the next waves into the game.
Other Pokémon with existing information or those that are legendary or mysterious will be explained in more detail afterwards.
All normal Pokémon that are still missing: These are exactly 38 Pokémon:
- Somniam and Somnivora
- Strawickl, Folikon and Matrifol
- Waumboll and Elfun
- Lilminip and Dressella
- Ganovil, Rokkaiman and Rabigator
- Zorua and Zoroark
- Piccolente and Swaroness
- Gelatini, Gelatroppo and Gelatwino
- Emolga
- Quabble and Apoquallyp
- Zapplardin, Zapplalek and Zapplarang
- Pygraulon and Megalon
- Flunschlik
- Lin-Fu and Wie-Shu
- Shardrago
- Gladiantri and Caesurio
- Bisafank
- Skallyk and Grypheldis
- Ignivor and Ramoth
All these Pokémon could appear in upcoming events or be collected as a new wave in the game. We are still in the release phase of this generation, which is why the missing Pokémon are not particularly noteworthy.
These Pokémon have already been announced: 6 monsters will appear later this March. They will come through the Psychic Spectacle, which will take place starting March 27.
The Pokémon include Monozyto, Mitodos, and Zytomega, as well as Mollimorba, Hypnomorba, and Morbitesse.
As a new raid boss in April, Demeteros is waiting. This will be the last Pokémon from the “Forces of Nature” trio to come into the game.
Sesokitz and Kronjuwild: These two Pokémon have 4 forms each. Each season gives the two Pokémon a different color. It could therefore very well be that the monsters will be released at a fitting season. They have already been seen on the loading screen of Pokémon GO.
Victini: This mysterious Pokémon is the first monster in the Unova Dex. Recently, Niantic introduced Genesect, the first mysterious Pokémon from Gen 5 into the game. Victini could very well follow in the next special research.
Reshiram, Zekrom, and Kyurem: The Tao Trio, as the 3 legendary Pokémon are called, are the only legendaries still missing. Recently we received the announcement that Demeteros, the last missing Pokémon from the “Forces of Nature” trio, will appear at the end of March.
When Demeteros disappears at the end of April, the way will be clear for one of the 3 missing Pokémon. It is quite possible that these 3 monsters will be introduced during the summer. After all, they are the best legendaries from Gen 5.
Keldeo: This is a mysterious Pokémon that belongs to the Knights of Order. All other Pokémon from this group, namely Terrakium, Viridium, and Kobalium, are already in the game. Keldeo is still missing because it is mysterious and not legendary.
A special research event is conceivable that could take place at a later time.
Meloetta: We might have to wait a little longer for this monster, as it is a similar case to Shaymin from Gen 4. It has two forms, the Dance Form and the Singing Form. Here, Niantic needs to come up with a way to implement these forms into the game.
