Apex Legends is a rather challenging battle royale featuring various characters, abilities, and multiple maps. Yet, for this 5-year-old, the game looks quite simple. He even manages to help his father to victory in duos.
What’s going on? The Twitch streamer NewbCybot runs a small channel with 125 followers, showcasing shooters like Rogue Company or Apex Legends. However, the channel differs from others in that the streamer occasionally lets his 5-year-old son play along and even take over the stream.
In a livestream from December 17, the son even manages to help his father to victory in duos. A clip of this is currently going viral and has received over 3,300 upvotes on Reddit for Apex Legends.
What does the clip show? In the clip, the 5-year-old wins the game for his father. Notably, he says phrases like “Shields Down” and is very mindful of his positioning. The boy seems to have experience in Apex Legends.
After his father was defeated, he made the decisive kill, even though he didn’t use one of the strongest characters in Apex Legends. Father and son then embraced each other happily.
“Better than half the players you usually play with”
How are the reactions to the clip? On Reddit, there are now over 300 comments about the boy. Many of them are full of praise, like this one from henrysebby: “If a 5-year-old is better than half the players you usually play with”.
In the comments, things are praised like:
- Jumping and moving while reloading
- His “calls” made during the game
- His quick reactions
- That he stays completely calm under fire
Some even call him a “true Apex Legend” (via reddit).
However, there is also criticism. Some users believe that a 5-year-old should not play Apex Legends. A friend of the father responded to this criticism, saying: “I know the player and his child personally. He is always supervised by him [the father] when he plays and he has strict limits. I know if his son were to develop negatively, he would respond and correct the actions.”
Father shows pride: The father has no problem that his son helped him to victory; on the contrary. The streamer proudly wrote in his biography on Twitch: “My 5 year old son carried me…”. Since this is not the first joint stream, there will likely be more clips of the two gamers in the future.
The collaboration between father and son in gaming is becoming more and more common. Earlier this year, we at MeinMMO spoke with a father-son duo who also have a joint Twitch channel:
