The year 2019 is coming to an end, but 2020 is just around the corner. What could FIFA 20 improve in the coming year? A small Christmas wish list.
This is what 2019 looked like for FIFA 20: FIFA 20 was released with some innovations. The Volta mode replaced The Journey, Icon SBCs were replaced by Icon Swaps in Ultimate Team, and the career mode shone with a few new bugs (just a little joke).
The gameplay in FIFA 20 has been praised by many players, overall the title is a lot of fun. However, there are also some areas that could be improved in FIFA 20. And what better time to express a few wishes than the Christmas season? Let’s get started.
What FIFA 20 could improve next year
Dear FIFA Santa… first of all, thank you for finally rewarding FIFA 20 players for playing! The new season objectives and tasks really make it worthwhile to play modes like Squad Battles or friendly matches, especially with unusual teams.
But there could be some improvements: Many players wish that the objectives could perhaps be kept out of Division Rivals. The competitive aspect doesn’t really mesh well with the complicated teams that you have to build for some objectives. Therefore, a small Christmas wish: Could we limit the objectives more to the other modes, or perhaps have a dedicated tournament mode for this?
This mode could be improved: On the whole, the Draft mode is a lot of fun. Many of us enjoy playing with strong cards that we would probably never obtain otherwise. The problem: The 15,000 coins to start it can really sting. Especially if in the end, you don’t get good Draft rewards – even if you would win the Draft.
So here’s a small Christmas wish: Could we make the Draft a little more accessible? Either by providing more Draft tokens that can be obtained through objectives or by lowering the price to enter the Draft? Alternatively, better rewards would also be a great thing!
Playing more with friends: Another great feature is the Volta mode. At least many of us thought so when the street-style mode for FIFA 20 was introduced. And it has to be said: Playing Volta on the couch with a buddy – that’s definitely one of the best innovations in FIFA 20.
However, Volta would be even better if we could also play it online with friends. Therefore, this Christmas wish: An expansion of the Volta mode oriented towards Pro Clubs that lets us play together – that would be a really nice gift! And if that can’t happen in FIFA 20, could we perhaps consider it for FIFA 21?
Fairer prices in Ultimate Team: Oh yes, dear FIFA Santa – many were actually not so happy about the probability of pulling strong players from packs. I know this is a classic issue in FIFA, and probably the wish is unrealistic.
But it is Christmas, so why not express the wish: Could we not further reduce the pay-to-win aspects in FIFA 20? At least a little bit?
For example, by making strong players available through SBCs. Because that’s what many of us hoped for during the FUTmas event – but unfortunately, the Christmas SBCs happened to be so expensive that they hardly paid off. The Icon Swaps were already a step in the right direction. Perhaps we can build on that?
An important Copa: Dear FIFA Santa, one last wish. Next year the Copa Libertadores is coming to the game. And even if it might be a bit much to hope for a similarly strong integration as with the Champions League – could we get a really good mode for that? The Copa would be the perfect opportunity to integrate an exciting tournament in FIFA 20 and bring something truly new to the game. Many football fans would be delighted!
