New hardware for PC gamers is expected to be released in 2024 and 2025. MeinMMO presents the most exciting developments you should keep an eye on.
The hardware market is constantly changing, and many manufacturers regularly bring new products and developments to market.
If you are interested in PC hardware or tech, you should particularly keep an eye on a range of products that will be released in 2024 or at the latest in 2025. MeinMMO presents the most exciting innovations of 2024.
AMD’s Zen 5 / Ryzen 8000 Series
AMD has planned innovations in the CPU area for 2024 and early 2025. With Ryzen 8000, the next generation of processors from AMD is already on the starting blocks.
During the release of AM5 and Ryzen 7000, AMD primarily struggled with high prices. Many gamers were hesitant to invest a lot of money in expensive DDR5 memory and new motherboards. However, the release was on September 27, 2022, which is almost 2 years ago.
With Ryzen 8000, AMD aims to make many things different, and above all, better. It is not for nothing that colleagues from Forbes state that the Ryzen 8000 series is regarded as “an important test for AMD’s new Socket AM5 platform.”
With Ryzen 8000, AMD is likely to offer some exciting deals for gamers, such as more affordable upgrade packs for those still using AM4.
Intel Arrow Lake/ 15th Gen Core Ultra
Intel also has new developments in processors. In contrast to AMD, there are two significant differences: Firstly, the new generation will use the new LGA 1851 socket, and secondly, it is expected not to support DDR4 memory anymore. The current generation still offers the option to use either DDR4 or DDR5.
The previous leaks around Arrow Lake promise a significant performance boost and stronger multicore performance. This means for you that the next generation of processors will offer more power.
Intel introduced so-called hybrid processors with the 12th generation (Alder Lake) that rely on a combination of efficiency cores (E-Cores) and performance cores (P-Cores). The E-Cores are supposed to handle simple tasks like office work, while the P-Cores are activated during gaming. This hybrid principle is expected to stay.
The improvements should also lead to lower power consumption in the long run. This means for you that you won’t need such strong cooling and overall will spend less money on electricity.
Speculation is around a release between October 2024 and December 2024.
With the switch to a new platform, Intel is also likely to offer some exciting upgrade deals, similar to AMD. These are often either cheaper bundles or packages with current games. More about Intel and its processors can be found directly on MeinMMO:
GDDR7 for new graphics cards in 2024 and 2025
Video memory is now integrated into every graphics card and comes in various sizes. While AMD uses GDDR6, Nvidia has already exclusively implemented the successor GDDR6X in some models.
At the beginning of 2024, the plans for the successor GDDR7 have become noticeably more concrete. Samsung and Micron announced that the development of GDDR7 memory is complete.
Reports suggest that GDDR7 will provide a storage speed increase of up to 42% and will equip the next generation GPUs with 32 Gbps and 28 Gbps memory:
- Nvidia’s RTX 5000 series cards are expected to already use GDDR7 memory.
- Whether AMD’s 8000 series will also use the new memory is still unknown. The first models of the 8000 series are still expected to use GDDR6.
However, it is quite certain that memory speed and bandwidth will significantly increase. While GDDR6 still offers 1.1 Tbps, GDDR7 is expected to reach 1.5 Tbps. By 2025 at the latest, many high-end models are likely to adopt the new memory as development has now been completed.

New graphics cards from AMD and Nvidia
Both AMD and Nvidia are expected to release new graphics cards for gamers in 2024. Speculation suggests that both manufacturers will release them in the fourth quarter of 2024. So far, there are no official dates.
AMD is mainly speculated to release a new mid-range product rather than a new high-end model, where they have always struggled against Nvidia. Currently, two graphics cards are under discussion:
- One graphics card is said to be only slightly slower than an AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT. This is AMD’s current second-fastest graphics card, directly behind the RX 7900 XTX.
- The second graphics card is expected to be between a Radeon RX 7700 XT and the RX 7600. This represents AMD’s current mid-range lineup targeted at WQHD gaming.
While two graphics cards are expected from AMD, rumors suggest that Nvidia will only have a single GPU with the RTX 5090. Reports from colleagues at GameStar Tech indicate that it will again be a high-end model, as was the case with the RTX 4090.
Gaming PCs without cables
One of the most exciting innovations in recent months is likely the development of making cables almost completely vanish from computers: Motherboards are being designed with cable connections and modules on the back, so the cables are no longer visible on the front. This aims to provide a “clean” appearance, improve airflow, and thus cooling performance.
At CES 2024, MSI presented its “Project Zero.” Manufacturers ASUS and Gigabyte followed with their own product lines: ASUS with “Back to the Future” and “Project Stealth” from Gigabyte.
The only downside: “Wireless” motherboards are currently significantly more expensive than wired alternatives. The price increase can be up to 50 to 60 Euros more.
More motherboards: If you want to buy a graphics card or assemble a gaming PC, you also need a motherboard. The manufacturer MSI has introduced a motherboard that costs as much as a complete gaming PC: New motherboard costs 1,700 Euros – But what can it actually do?
