We present to you 5 mysteries from World of Warcraft that still exist in the game world to this day.
World of Warcraft has grown quite a bit with an age of 12 years. However, not all secrets of the game world have been solved. Some storylines have completely fallen by the wayside, and some mysteries still exist today. We have identified five secrets of the game world for you that are still waiting for a resolution.
The Children of Goldshire
There are many creepy stories and quest lines in World of Warcraft, but the eeriest things are often those whose purpose is not understood. One such phenomenon is the “Children of Goldshire”, sometimes referred to as the “Demon Children”. Those who wish to see them must be in the game between 7:00 AM and 8:00 AM (server time) and keep their eyes open in the forest of Elwynn near Goldshire.
The 6 children Dana, Aaron, Cameron, John, Jose, and Lisa appear in the northwest of Goldshire, in the house with the furrier and leather crafting trainer. From there, they walk to Stormwind, then to Goldshire, and finally towards Northshire before heading back to the house.
When the children stand still, they always form a “pentagram” around Cameron. Up to this point, one might think that it is just a typical scripted event – but there is more.
As long as the children are present in the house, the background music changes. The cheerful Elwynn music is replaced by the usual “graveyard music”. Additionally, there are sound effects like the scream of a banshee and the moaning of a ghoul. Occasionally, one can even hear C’thun’s voice whispering his well-known phrase “You… will… DIE!” or announcing impending doom with “Death is close.” At exactly 8:00 AM, the children disappear again – until the next day.
The theories about the children are diverse. Some consider them a reference to the Diablo universe, but the WoW fans are not satisfied with that. Those who keep their eyes open in the grass southwest of the house discover small skulls – children’s skulls. Players suspect that the children were murdered and their skin sold as leather – but that is just a theory.
Fun fact: Standing exactly at Cameron’s position in the house, you are 666 meters away from the border to Stormwind. Coincidence? Definitely…
