Depending on which edition of Diablo 4 you pre-ordered, you can enter the world of Sanctuary either on June 2nd or June 6th, 2023. To prepare for the release now, there are five things you can tackle right away. With this MeinMMO article, you will be well prepared.
When is the launch of Diablo 4? All buyers of the Standard Edition can only start Diablo 4 on June 6th, 2023 at 01:00 AM. If you pre-ordered the Digital Deluxe Edition or the Ultimate Edition, you will receive four days of early access. Accordingly, your adventure begins on June 2nd, 2023 at 01:00 AM.
To make good use of the additional four-day wait or to be perfectly prepared for the launch on June 2nd, we are providing you with five tips. These will simplify the start of your game.
Additionally, we recommend that you follow the live ticker from MeinMMO as soon as it is activated. This way, you will always be up to date on the status of the Diablo 4 servers. Also, read reviews of the game. This will give you an impression of what aspects you should also prepare for.
1. Which class should I choose?
At the launch of Diablo 4, five different classes will be available. Over time, additional classes may be added, but at the beginning of June, you only have to choose between the following classes:
- Class Archetypes
- Barbarian: Brutal melee fighter
- Druid: Transforms into animal forms
- Necromancer: Can summon skeletons
- Ranger: Agile melee or ranged fighter
- Sorceress: Magical attacks

Choose one of the five classes to focus on at the start. Once you have completed the campaign with one character, you can skip it with any further characters and jump straight into endgame.

2. The best build for your class
Within a class, individual characters can differ greatly in their play style. The reason for this is that each class has multiple builds available for you to skill your character. Therefore, you should choose the build that is most compatible with your play style and that you enjoy the most.
What is the skill builder? With the English skill builder (d4builds.gg), you can start engaging with your chosen class even before the game begins and see what skills it has available. As you level up, skill points can be distributed to active and passive abilities.
But remember: you can only use six active abilities at the same time. If you have more skill points than needed, it’s better to invest them in enhancing your active abilities. Additionally, you can skill passive abilities as you can use as many of them as you like.

3. Ensure enough storage space
Diablo 4 requires a lot of storage space. Anyone who participated in one of the previous beta phases can already gauge what file size to expect.
With the system requirements for PC, Blizzard has already confirmed how much storage space needs to be reserved on your PC. For console versions, there are currently only the storage sizes from the server slam as a rough guide. Depending on the platform, you need to free up the following storage space:
- PS4: approx. 76 GB
- PS5: approx. 76 GB
- Xbox One: approx. 76 GB
- Xbox Series X/S: approx. 76 GB
- PC: 90 GB
The last beta phase took up about 85 GB of storage on PC. Therefore, the jump to the full version is only 5 GB. If the console versions behave similarly, you will end up with a final file size of under 100 GB.
4. Download the game before release
As mentioned in the introduction, the launch of Diablo 4 is on June 2nd or June 6th, 2023 at 01:00 AM. However, you can already download the game beforehand so you can start immediately at release.
The preload starts for all editions at the same time. Therefore, you can pre-download the title starting at:
- Start of the preload: May 31, 2023 at 01:00 AM
If you haven’t downloaded Diablo 4 beforehand, be prepared for a bit of wait time at release. With the aforementioned file size of at least 76 GB, it will take some time to download the game, depending on your internet connection.

Where can I find the preload? In the PS Store and Xbox Store, you need to search for Diablo 4. Once you find the game, just click on download.
For the PC version, you need to start the Battle.net client. There you also search for Diablo 4 if it’s not already listed among your favorites. You need to click install to download the game before launch.
5. Plan your budget
If you haven’t decided on an edition of Diablo 4 yet, you should carefully consider which of the three editions you want to buy. Blizzard offers different paths for the battle pass through which you can collect various items for the game.
The following paths are available:
- Free path (Standard Edition): Accessible to everyone and offers 27 free levels
- Premium path (Digital Deluxe Edition): Costs about 10 Euros and offers 90 levels
- Premium path with 20 level jumps (Ultimate Edition): Costs about 25 Euros and offers 90 levels
What are the differences? The free path is accessible to all players and includes seasonal blessings that grant you various bonuses. These include more XP from defeated enemies or the extended duration of elixirs.
The premium path has an additional 63 hours. It includes only cosmetic items with which you can upgrade your character visually. Owners of the Standard Edition do not have access to this. Their 27 free levels are spread across the 90 levels.
The 20 level jumps may be interesting for those who do not have much time to invest in gameplay in Diablo 4. If you have plans during the release period or cannot take time off for the release, this path might be a good option for you.
Attention: The battle pass included with the purchase of Diablo 4 only applies to the first season! After that, you will need to purchase a new seasonal battle pass every three months if you are interested in additional cosmetic items.

So carefully consider which edition you want to pre-order and which contents are worth the price for you. The upgrade from the Digital Deluxe Edition to the Ultimate Edition costs 10 Euros, but the associated battle pass is 15 Euros more expensive if purchased separately. It would therefore be worthwhile to go for the Ultimate Edition directly if you want the 20 level jumps.
The Digital Deluxe Edition is 20 Euros more expensive than the Standard Edition, but the associated battle pass costs just 10 Euros. So if you are not interested in the early access or the additional digital contents included in the Digital Deluxe Edition, you can also purchase the battle pass separately.
