In Call of Duty: Warzone, you can compete in 4 different team sizes. However, if you are playing alone and Battle Royale solo is not for you, you can team up with strangers. Here are some tips on how to still be successful.
What’s this about? At the start of Call of Duty: Warzone, players could only enter the Battle Royale as a trio. Now you can fight in 4 different team sizes, ranging from solo to 4-player teams.
However, many players do not necessarily go into the solo playlist as a solo player. The game is often much more “campy” here, and you rarely get the chance to not land directly in the Gulag or the score evaluation after a knockout. If you do occasionally drop in, here’s a strong solo setup.
For all solo team players, Warzone offers a “Fill” option. This way, you can also move through Verdansk as a single player in teams and might even find new and nice teammates. Tips for Lone Fighters – Never Be “the Dumb Random” Again
As a random player (Randy, stranger, the other guy), it’s often tough in Warzone. The prejudices and expectations are high, and seldom can you meet the high standards of the random team. But with some behaviors, you can significantly increase your acceptance. Here are our tips:

1. Communication is key
Consider beforehand whether you want to play with an open mic, muted, or without chat at all. It would be optimal if you communicate with strangers via voice chat. But for some players, that’s not an option since it can get annoying depending on the teammates.
However, even without speech, Warzone provides excellent communication tools. The “Pings” are great for sharing all relevant information:
- Where’s the exit?
- There are enemies
- Here lies equipment
- I’m going this way / This way
- Help!!!
In voice chat, there might be a little trash talk and small talk during the quiet mid-game, but the pings cover the most important points. So, if you are with a random team, always use the pings to communicate.
Be stingy with your calls and don’t spam the same pings constantly, or your team may quickly turn away from you.
2. Follow the tactics
If you enter a team as a lone fighter, don’t expect the rest to follow your calls. Instead, adapt to the approach the team is taking and support as best as you can.
This starts with the jump. Even if the team chooses a landing spot you don’t like at all: jump with the team and fight your way through. And who knows, maybe you’ll find besides new teammates some really good landing spots.
3. Play defensively and cooperatively
When moving through Verdansk and during fights, the same applies: you are the one who needs to fit in. Stay a step back and wait for a revival instead of going for a kill. Offer the team safety by playing defensively.
Don’t go into combat first, but observe the approach of your teammates to help out when needed. If you notice a good flanking position, try to take it and support the firefight. If your team pushes, keep up and stay close to your comrades.
Once you’ve revived your first teammate, you’ve already become an important part of the team, and the others will pay more attention to you.
4. Bring support equipment
Build your own loadout for fights as a mercenary with equipment that is helpful but not often used.
Rocket launchers, for example, are very strong in Warzone, as you can get easy kills on nearby vehicles and easily destroy Warzone vehicles otherwise. However, they are seldom chosen as they displace a primary weapon. If you have a “PILA” and take down the annoying helicopter that was just about to turn your unknown friends into mush, you’ll definitely rise in the esteem of their teammates.
The same goes for perks. With “Amped” (Yellow Perk), you revive your fallen teammates faster. Smoke grenades help you safely revive friends.
Be sure to choose the perk “Ghost”. While many teams play with “Overkill” as the red perk, if you land in a team that relies on “Ghost”, you will be prepared. If you take a rocket launcher, you don’t need “Overkill” anyway.
For grenades, the proximity mines are strong. Whether it’s a Claymore or a proximity mine, both help when you want to hold a position and secure entrances.
As a primary weapon, you need something that covers as many operational areas as possible. The strong FAL performs extremely well at close and medium ranges and can also hit accurately beyond that. If you don’t like single shots, grab the Grau 5.56 or one of its alternatives. An assault rifle is the best choice here.

5. Treat the strangers like friends
Except for the sometimes rude language among friends, you should treat a random team like people you usually play with. Take a risk to revive someone or scrape together $4,500 to bring back one of the strangers into the game. If you show goodwill, you’ll often get it in return.
Even if things aren’t going so well for you, but the team still has chances, don’t immediately leave the match and diminish the chances further. There might always be an insane match event starting that brings all players back or the team is signing a “Most Wanted” contract, which also brings back fallen players. If you play with your friends, you usually wouldn’t leave the match either.
As a supporter of the team, you can be a great help, and the other players will appreciate that, even if you’re not in voice chat together. If this role is new for you, you’ll gain a whole new perspective on the fights and can improve overall.
A victory with a random team is difficult but not impossible. If you adapt to the gameplay, there’s a good chance you will also have team success in Warzone without friends.
