The new Diablo Immortal is coming soon on PC, Android, and iOS. MeinMMO will tell you how the new installment of the famous ARPG series differs from its predecessors and what you can expect.
What is Diablo Immortal anyway? The latest Diablo entry has been known since 2018 and is still in development. Originally planned as a mobile-only title, it is now known that PC will also be offered as a platform.
As expected from Diablo, you play from an isometric perspective (“overhead”) and control your hero in battle against hordes of undead and demons. Unlike before, you will find plenty of group content, although you can still experience most of it as a solo player.
Diablo Immortal is set to release on June 2, 2022, for Android and iOS and, quite surprisingly, also for PC. To give you a better picture of the game, we explain some of the most important content and features of Diablo Immortal.

1. Groups are more important than ever
Diablo Immortal fully embraces social content. Almost everything you find in the endgame requires a group or is at least very difficult to handle solo:
- Dungeons are designed for 4 players
- Raids are available for groups of 8 players and come with various difficulty levels
- The largest raids even require 48 players
Ideally, you should start looking for a guild while leveling up, where you can join. You will often find players in the social hubs of the world with whom you can interact or complete tasks.
With the “Warbands,” consisting of up to 8 players, you can already experience most of the content while enjoying a smaller, familiar environment of friends. However, if you want to see “everything,” you’ll need a guild.
2. Dungeons, Raids, and PvP – Real MMO Content
In the announcement, it was mentioned that Immortal is supposed to be the “biggest Diablo yet.” The mentioned group content also makes up a significant part of Diablo Immortal, according to current information.
So far, we know of 7 dungeons in the game, all featuring their own monsters and bosses. A run takes about 10-15 minutes and serves as an efficient source for coveted loot.
Currently, we only know of two significant raids: the Treasury (for Shadows) and Kion’s Torture (for Immortals). In the latter, 4 groups of 12 players fight simultaneously against 4 bosses, with all other bosses becoming stronger if one of them dies.
The currently biggest known feature is PvP, the Cycle of Strife. Here, each week, the best guilds fight for dominance on the server. In multiple rounds and battles, the “Shadows” try to overthrow the reigning “Immortals”:
- in 10 battles with 8-vs-8 players, the Shadows qualify
- if they win at least half of the fights, they can challenge the Immortals’ leaders
- in a 30-vs-1 battle, the Shadows band together against a player who turns into a true raid boss with special abilities for this battle
- if the Shadows win, they decide in a Battle Royale who the new ruler will be
In the beta, so far, only the best players could see this mode. However, the Cycle of Strife is supposed to be reworked before release. Once we know more, you will find the details here on MeinMMO.
But Diablo also includes a campaign. This is also present in Immortal. It is divided into 8 zones and is apparently larger than the 5 acts typically known from Diablo.
The story itself is supposed to take about 10 hours, but it is extended by level requirements for the zones. You can grind, for example, through bounties and rifts, both solo and in a group.

3. Immortal is a mobile game that also comes to PC
The decision to release Diablo Immortal only on mobile has apparently been regretted by Blizzard. Therefore, it is now also coming to PC. But even if you play Diablo Immortal on PC, you should keep in mind that the game was originally created for mobile.
While we haven’t been able to play and test the PC version yet, there is already some information regarding its implementation.
On one hand, a WASD control scheme is being targeted for PC that has not been present in Diablo before. There are missing details, but it’s likely that Immortal will play on PC similarly to Lost Ark. Controllers will also be supported.
On the other hand, there will be both cross-progression and the ability to cross-save. PC and mobile players will thus play together, and if you use both platforms, you can easily continue playing your characters on the go or at home.
In terms of visuals, Diablo Immortal looks extremely beautiful on mobile devices. However, whether the high resolution holds up on larger screens remains to be seen. In our article, you can already find the system requirements for Diablo Immortal on PC.

4. Diablo Immortal is Free2Play but has a shop
You will not have to pay anything for Diablo Immortal; the game is completely Free2Play. According to current information, the game is said to be financed through a shop and a battle pass, which offers both a free and a paid path.
Previously, there were concerns that Diablo Immortal would be purely Pay2Win. Some fans even calculated that it would take 40 years to get the most powerful items if you don’t pay. In the shop, there were certain boosters and items available for purchase.
The shop was one of the biggest criticisms during the beta and, according to the developers, is receiving a rework. What exactly will change and what you can really buy in the end has not yet been revealed to us.
However, beta veterans have already stated that even in the shop’s old state, no purchase was necessary. Some Free2Play players could easily keep up with paying customers.
Only those who want to improve the last few fractions of a percent would have needed purchased items, but this is only relevant for a very few players. Anyone who just wants to play can do so without paying – and still experience all the content.
5. Classes are not ‘fixed’, but switching is not always possible
Diablo Immortal offers 6 classes with unique abilities at launch. You choose one of the classes during character creation and level it up. However, you are not bound by this choice.
You can later decide to switch your class in-game without having to start a new character. This is not supposed to be arbitrary and always possible but is supposed to happen at specific points.
Furthermore, the switch will come to the game later. So, choose your starting class wisely and see the switch as an opportunity to try something new later without needing to level up again.
Diablo Immortal will be continuously developed as a service game over the coming years. New classes are also conceivable, and a candidate has already been found in the data: a vampire knight.
These switches are also a welcome opportunity to explore new content. However, which classes will actually come and when this will happen is still open.
