The loot shooter Destiny 2 is releasing its 10th major expansion, namely Witch Queen. What you should know before purchasing and what to expect, you’ll find out here on MeinMMO.
What kind of DLC is this? It is the 10th expansion from Bungie for the loot shooter Destiny 2. The Witch Queen will be playable from February 22nd. Therefore, we list 5 things you must know before making your purchase.
1. Everything about the release – Times, Download, Costs
When does the preload start? The preload for Witch Queen is expected to be available on all platforms starting February 22nd at 6:00 AM. Bungie announced this in the old “This Week at Bungie” blog (TWaB) .
Before that, a longer downtime for Destiny 2 is planned. Bungie currently estimates this to be around 14 hours.
From when to when is the downtime planned?
- On Tuesday, February 22, 2022, the servers will go offline at 4:00 AM. You will no longer be able to log in, and some services on Bungie.net will also be unavailable.
- Servers are expected to be back online at 6:00 PM on the same day.
How much GB will Witch Queen require? This is currently unknown and will only reveal itself in the preload for the respective platforms.
How much does Witch Queen cost? The new expansion can be purchased in four versions and includes the following content:

2. Hive setting with creep factor
What is the setting like? You will again face the Hive as the main enemy. Savathûn, the Witch Queen and sister of Oryx, has stolen the Light. She has formed a new brood that turns familiar Hive classes into Light-bearer beasts.
It is now up to the Guardians to figure out how the Witch Queen managed this. Players will gain access to the Throne World of the Hive Goddess and try to uncover secrets with newly acquired powers, uncovering secrets.
From the ancient castle of the Sovereign to the dank marshes, Guardians can freely roam in their world. However, the map is also divided underground. Dark catacombs await to be explored, but beware, behind every corner may hide an enemy waiting to feed on your Light.
3. Weapon crafting
What does the new weapon crafting bring? Are you also tired of the tedious farming of weapons and the endless praying to the RNG god? With the new expansion, this will come to an end, as you will be able to forge your own God Roll.
With a wide range of weapons waiting to be adapted to your wishes, your creativity knows no bounds. You just need to provide the necessary materials and extract the modifications from old weapons. Once you have done that, you’ll gain the ability to customize your weapon as you wish, both the casing and the perks.
4. New raid – Into a sunken pyramid ship
How will the raid take place? Much is not known about the new raid. The enemy is said to be an ancient threat trapped within. Guardians must confront it and put an end to it. A team of 6 Guardians will venture into a pyramid ship sunken in the swamp to clean it up.
The start date is also known, and Guardians will have the chance to participate in “Day One” on March 5th at 7 PM.
5. Adjustments to old light classes
What exactly will be adjusted? The light classes of each class still have simplified trees, which are divided into three types. With the “Beyond Light” expansion, Bungie added the Stasis class. With this, Guardians can also embellish their divine powers with their fragments and aspects. This allows you to adapt your bonuses to your playstyle and benefit from it at maximum level.
Bungie has confirmed that the Void focus is the one that is being renovated. Thus, you will launch with the version “Void 3.0”.
Further renovations will also take place in ongoing seasons. Thus, the Arc and Solar abilities will follow the example of Void 3.0. However, these will not be released until a later time in Witch Queen, starting with Solar.
