3. Clean up your inventory and quest log
Over the years, the bags of your World of Warcraft inventory have become larger. Although backpacks now have over 30 slots and Dragonflight even brought a new bag slot, many still complain about a lack of inventory space.
But this is not due to the size of the inventory – but rather your own behavior. Many simply cannot part with things, even though they will never be used again.
Take the time and go through your inventory and bank slot by slot. Decide each time: Do I really need this anymore? Does it still serve any real purpose? Have I even used the item in the last year?
Be strict with yourself. Part with junk. Sell resources at the auction house, old equipment to the vendor, and get rid of things that simply no longer serve a purpose.
There is little more frustrating while playing a new addon than having to clean out your inventory every few minutes because space is once again exhausted.
A good rule of thumb is: If your inventory (without reagent bag) does not have at least 100 free slots, then you have too much junk and need to clean out urgently.
While you’re at it, you should also take a critical look at your quest log. Most players carry a lot of old quests with them. Some still have any raid quests from “Battle for Azeroth” active, while others still have PvP quests from “Warlords of Draenor”.
To be honest: You haven’t made progress on the quest to defeat 500 orc characters in PvP from Ashran in the last 10 years – and you won’t do it in the next 10 years either.
Get rid of those old quests, so you can start the new expansion with a clean, empty quest log. This not only gives you clarity and allows you to focus on current content, but it also brings back the good feeling of occasionally just being “done” with all current tasks.
4. Unlock optional portals
As part of the numerous account-wide unlocks, the portals you earned through “Mythic+” will also be available to the entire account. So if you’ve been regularly playing in dungeons in the past, and during Battle for Azeroth, Shadowlands, or now in Dragonflight, completed many high “Mythic+” dungeons, you will have a large repertoire of teleportations.
These portals will be available on all your characters in the future!
Therefore, you should make use of the remaining time of Dragonflight and try to complete a few dungeons on “Mythic+10” within the time, so that you can possess the teleportation permanently for all characters afterwards.
If the challenge is too great for you, you can also pay other groups to take you through the dungeon. However, this can get quite expensive and may only be a sensible option for players with a large gold reserve.
Right now, at the end of a season, the dungeons are relatively easy anyway. So give it a try so you have many shortcuts throughout the world in the future.
5. Finally join a guild or community
It is an old wisdom, yet one that has not lost its significance. Even though you can now complete many contents in World of Warcraft alone or with strangers thanks to various search tools, this does hinder the fun of the game.
World of Warcraft is an MMORPG, and it fully unfolds its appeal when played with friends or acquaintances. Whether you have a large group of 10, 20, or 30 players or a small, tight-knit group of just 2-3 known players is not too important.
What matters is that you have some friends or comrades to play with.
Sure: Finding a suitable guild or community is not that easy. But WoW has so many players that it is absolutely impossible not to find a group that shares your interests.
With The War Within, guilds are even cross-server – so you can join guilds that were not even founded on your realm.
So you have no excuse to always be alone in the game. And even if it’s just for a guild chat where you occasionally discuss the new contents, share a few silly jokes or anecdotes – World of Warcraft is simply more fun with social contacts.
Use the time before the new expansion to finally find a guild or community that matches your interests and preferences in the game. It will bring you much more joy in the long run.
