King’s Cross
Every Harry Potter fan knows it: King’s Cross station. Here, Harry’s journey towards Hogwarts begins in the first part with the Hogwarts Express from the legendary Platform 9 3/4.
The station actually consists of 2 stations located directly next to each other: King’s Cross and St Pancras International, which also has a hotel.
While the filming of Platform 9 3/4 took place inside King’s Cross, the exterior shots of the station from the second part had to use the facade of the St. Pancras Renaissance Hotel.
The original pillar from the films, where aspiring wizards access the platform, can only be accessed with a valid train ticket. However, in the station itself, there is now also a wall with a luggage trolley embedded in it and a sign for the platform where you can have your photo taken.
Provided you bring some time with you, as there was generally quite a long queue here.
Right next to this place, you’ll also find a small shop with Harry Potter merchandise. If you’ve always wanted to try real Bertie Bott’s Every Flavour Beans, you can purchase them here.
Grimmauld Place
Every Harry Potter fan probably knows the scene where Harry enters Grimmauld Place for the first time with some members of the Order of the Phoenix. While the Muggles are sitting in their apartments enjoying their time in front of the TV, the building expands through Alastor Moody, revealing the entrance to the headquarters of the Order of the Phoenix.
This building is also located in London. The small park from which the heroes arrive in the films to reach the building is located here as well. The place is called Claremont Square and is about a 15-minute walk from King’s Cross station.
If you already plan to visit the station, then for die-hard Harry Potter fans, a visit to this square is also worthwhile.
Parliament
The Parliament also does not play the biggest role in the films. However, it is wonderfully visible in the 5th part when the members of the Order of the Phoenix fly past Harry.
You can catch a similar perspective of the Parliament when you head to Westminster Bridge, which is located right next to the Parliament.
In addition to this little fan moment for film fans, there are also many sights to discover in this area of the city apart from the Parliament. Therefore, the trip here is also worthwhile if you want to visit a few of the city’s attractions.
