The new PUBG (PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds) update brings a new vehicle, a new weapon, and fundamental balance changes to the weapons in the game.
The new PC update number 12 for PUBG tackles weapon balance. Pistols and LMGs consistently deal more damage, while some ARs have had to lose some power. Your experience with the weapons in PUBG is set to change dramatically with this update.
A new vehicle and another weapon are also coming, along with changes to loot distribution. The update is massive and changes a lot. We have put together the most important details for you.
When will the new update with the weapon balance changes arrive? The update is now on the test servers and will be tested there for a bit longer than usual. The developers want to gather a lot of feedback before the update goes live. A specific date has not been set.
Weapon meta in PUBG could change dramatically
The goal of the new PUBG update is to change the weapon balance. If you look at the changes, you will see that the developers have succeeded.
The assault rifles are in for a significant change. They now mostly deal less damage and have a higher recoil.
Weapons should fit better in situations. Previously, players used assault rifles for nearly every situation. For close and medium distances, ARs should now hopefully only serve as a third choice, as shotguns and submachine guns now deal more damage.

There’s a new sniper in PUBG – The “SLR”
In your PUBG matches, you will soon also be able to use the new weapon SLR. It is a designated marksman rifle (DMR) that fires 7.62mm caliber rounds. The magazine holds 10 rounds – with an extension, 20 rounds.
How powerful is the SLR compared to other weapons? The developers explain that the SLR is stronger than the SKS. The difference lies in the recoil, which is said to be significantly higher with the new SLR. Only those who can manage the recoil well will be able to use the SLR effectively.
No level 3 helmets will spawn randomly anymore – Loot change
Surprisingly, the developers altered the loot distribution in PUBG. Level 3 helmets now no longer spawn randomly on the map, but are exclusively found in airdrops. Each care package guarantees at least 1 helmet. The helmets themselves are therefore significantly rarer due to the update. However, the other values of the helmets have not changed.
Adrenaline shots are now also regular loot. The shots spawn on the map alongside regular loot, but are rare. Additionally, the execution time for the adrenaline shots has been reduced from 8 seconds to 6 seconds.
A new car pulls up
In PUBG, you will find a new car through the update – the Mirado.
On which maps can you find the Mirado? You can find the new car only on the Miramar map and there near the downtown and main streets in towns. It is a fast vehicle with four seats.
Map selection – Finally
A feature that many of you have been waiting for has now entered the game. With the map selection, you can now determine which map you want to play before entering a match.
How to choose a map? Directly in the main menu, you will find the “Map” button, where you can select Miramar or Erangel. Click one of them and you will definitely play there. If you choose both, it will be random. The design of the map selection may change before it goes live on the servers.
