In Pokémon GO there are now the first changes to Mega Evolutions! This is Niantic’s response to the criticism from trainers. We tell you what is changing.
What’s new: In a blog post, Niantic discussed the new features. They refer to the fact that Mega Evolutions are considered unfair by many trainers because a lot of raid passes must be invested for only a short period of Mega Evolution.
Now, the evolutions are supposed to be made fairer and players will receive Mega Energy in more ways.
What’s new in Mega Evolutions
The 5 changes: Overall, the Megas are set to change in 5 points. 2 of these have already been implemented:
- The amount of Mega Energy required for a Pokémon that has already mega-evolved has been reduced.
- There is now more Mega Energy available from raids.
- Buddy Pokémon will soon bring you Mega Energy.
- More ways to collect Mega Energy are expected soon, such as quests.
- There will be bonus candies if you catch a Pokémon of the same type as your currently evolving Mega Pokémon.
In summary, it can be said that especially the system of Mega Energy is being overhauled. A first Mega Evolution still costs 200 Energy, and only another evolution of the same Pokémon is cheaper.
Especially the other ways to earn Mega Energy are important. This has been requested by many trainers and will likely be implemented soon.
How are the changes received? So far, the adjustments haven’t generated much excitement. A Mega Bibarel costs only 20 instead of 25 Mega Energy for the second evolution. Blastoise, Charizard and Venusaur are said to cost only 40 instead of 50 Mega Energy. The adjustments are therefore minor.
Accordingly, there are many opinions on reddit such as: “So they sprayed a pile of crap with Lysol.”
Since only 2 of the 5 promised adjustments are currently active, it remains to be seen how the other changes will be received.
