Love, Death & Robots
- FSK 18
- 8.4/10 (via IMDb)
The anthology series Love, Death & Robots is a collection of animated short films that encompass various genres such as sci-fi, fantasy, horror, and comedy. Each short film is supposed to include at least one option from the title as a theme – and does not hold back in its vulgarity and brutality.
However, the individual stories differ not only in their genre but also in their animation style – whether 2D, 3D, motion capture, or even stop motion. Animation fans can definitely get their money’s worth here.
So far, there are 3 seasons with a total of 35 short films, and a fourth season is on the way. While the stories differ in their quality and tonality, this selection should really have something for everyone.
The author’s personal recommendations (trained in game art and animation) for those interested in getting a clearer picture of the series:
- Zima Blue (Season 1)
- All Through the House (Season 2)
- Jibaro (Season 3)
Animation as a medium is as diverse as it is impressive. Its success and positive reception from viewers is proof of that.
