Do you already know these 5 secret places in World of Warcraft? There are few reasons to travel to them – but even fewer characters ever see them.
World of Warcraft is vast – very vast. With 10 expansions so far, the game world has been enlarged each time, thus increasing the accessible landmass. While one strolls through most areas at least once, many areas are somewhat hidden or even completely concealed. Today we are talking about a number of secret places that one normally wouldn’t reach – and yet they exert a mysterious fascination.
Soon there will be a place in WoW that many fans have always wanted – housing:
The Maw of the Void
The first place on this list is located at the Darkshore. You must ensure that you are in the ‘old’ Darkshore, which means before it was devastated in the War of Thorns during Battle for Azeroth. South of Lor’danel, you will find a whirlpool into which water from the surroundings flows. No quest leads here and at first glance, this is an area that one never really needs to visit.
However, those who dare to jump into the whirlpool trigger a small cutscene in which the character is pulled deeper and ultimately dragged into an underground ruin – ancient walls from long-forgotten times.
In these ruins, you will mainly find the spirits of Highborne – but also the remains of a Night Elf demon hunter. If you defeat this one, it even drops a quest starter item that will ultimately reward you with an achievement. This achievement is likely the reason most people ever learn about these ruins.
At least one living being is still here, as the Night Elf Bielara from the Circle of Cenarius offers you a way to leave the place.
Rock Island Le’val
It’s an old joke – with a spark of truth – that new landmasses keep appearing in World of Warcraft, which were previously undiscovered. However, even within the supposedly known areas, there are some peculiar islands that can currently be visited.
Anyone who leaves the map southward in the Azure Mountains and flies far out to sea can discover a peculiar island beyond the exhaustion zone: Rock Island Le’val.
No quest leads to this island, and there is no actual use known for this island.
Nevertheless, things are a bit peculiar here, as the island is indeed inhabited by animals.
There are many different crabs displaying peculiar behavior. They have taken the bones of dead dragons and carry them on their backs. Both skulls and spines are carried and then paraded in formation across the island – as if a dead dragon were still moving.
Aside from that, there are also a handful of herbs and battle pets to tame on the island.
A peculiar place that perhaps serves no deeper purpose but invites one to linger during every exploration.
