Final Fantasy 14 – Patch 3.5 brings a hint of Stormblood
After you celebrated a cute Christmas party with Amh Garanjy and the poor children from the hospital in December in Final Fantasy 14, it continues on January 17 with the new Patch 3.5. This includes new dungeons, loot, and quests. The special thing about it: The main quest concludes old narrative threads and prepares everything for the new expansion Stormblood.
Ala Mhigo awaits
Stormblood itself is not coming until June 20, but the new main quests of patch 3.5 – “The Far Edge of Fate” – will have a reference to the expansion and its region, Ala Mhigo. Therefore, the new main storyline in patch 3.5 also consists of farewells and reunions.
This means the poor Minfilia must set out again, although she has just been reunited with the Warrior of Light and their friends. However, you will celebrate a reunion in the Scions of the Seventh Dawn, as Yda and Papalymo are back. Additionally, Alisaie and Krile officially join the Scions. Thus, you are more than ready for the challenges of the future.
The wall must go!
The main story in patch 3.5 is already interesting, but those who prefer to smash bosses and trash mobs in groups can look forward to two new dungeons. The first dungeon is actually a huge wall: The Baelsar Wall. This powerful fortress lies between the Black Shroud and Gyr Abania. The wall served as an Imperial bastion against Eorzea and has long been inactive. But now dark smoke rises again from the fortifications of the bastion, and your heroes must check what’s going on.
While the dark Baelsar Wall is a new dungeon, the Dragon’s Cave in Mount Sohm Al is an old dungeon that now comes in a new, harder difficulty. In Sohm Al, we penetrate into the former dragon refuge, as after the downfall of Nidhogg and the end of the Dragon War the wyrms have disappeared from their old home. Instead, all sorts of nasty critters now inhabit the area, which, to make matters worse, anger the souls of the dead dragons. Therefore, you must clear the place.
Fans of Final Fantasy 14 who can’t wait for the release of Stormblood should check back in Square Enix’s online RPG in mid-January. Patch 3.5 is so large that only the first part is coming in January. Part 2 will come in March with even more content, which will surely reference Stormblood even more.
