Bethesda has released a new trailer for the Wastelanders update for Fallout 76. In just under 2 minutes, there are plenty of details that really make you excited about the new content.
This is shown in the trailer: The new trailer provides an overview of the massive Wastelanders update, starting with the first quest and the first NPCs, all the way to a mysterious new vault.
Included are new weapons, armor, and plenty of story with the NPCs you will meet. We will highlight 5 of the showcased details for you.
Wastelanders will be released on April 14 as a free update for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. For the first time, Fallout 76 will also be available for PC on Steam.
The Start of Your Adventure: The First Quest
At the beginning, the trailer shows the start of Appalachia: The very first quest in the “Waywards” diner, which is now located right at the first camp of the Overseer. There, you can take a real quest from human NPCs for the first time and talk to them extensively.
Even the first step into the new adventure begins with a decision, as a stranger holds a weapon to the tough Duchess’s face as you stumble in. Just remember that your choices have consequences.
“Appalachia belongs to us!”
A small sentence uttered by the leader of the raiders hints at a significant conflict potential brewing in Wastelanders. The two major factions of raiders and settlers have returned to Appalachia and both want to stay there – with your support, if your reputation with them is high enough.
However, if the Raider leader claims the entire land for herself, it could naturally lead to a dispute. Especially since you, the residents of Vault 76, have made the land habitable again.
Your New Task: Eradicate the Scorched
Hidden in the middle of the trailer is a huge hint about the new task you will pursue in Wastelanders. After the Brandbeasts have largely been defeated, it’s now against the Scorched plague.
Because the newly arrived humans should not fall victim to the disease right away. For that, you previously worked on a vaccine – which now somehow needs to be distributed, it sounds like. How will you manage that?
Secret Quests, an Arena, and New Weapons
The trailer is scattered with some details and hints about new features. Distributed scenes show, for example:
- a new weapon: bow and arrow
- unknown NPCs who seem to want to hire you for secret tasks
- a combat arena where you face off against beasts with other players
What lies behind the contents will likely need to be discovered by you yourself. However, it is clear that a ton of new features and contents are hidden there that you can discover in Wastelanders.
The Mysterious Vault 79
As a conclusion to the trailer, the door to an as-yet-unknown Vault 79 is shown, which the Raider leader apparently wants to blow open together with you. What exactly is behind the doors, we cannot say yet.
Perhaps it will be a raid like Vaults 96 and 94 before it, or it will continue the story. As it looks in the trailer, you will need to overcome it with a group of players or NPC companions who will support you.
