Support hunters – your friend and helper
A very helpful novelty introduced with Monster Hunter Wilds is the so-called support hunters. Particularly for players who may be unsure and do not want to dive directly into multiplayer sessions, these AI hunters offer great support.
When you call for help from other hunters on a hunt with a distress beacon, you can also specifically call on these support hunters. Just like real players, up to 3 other AI hunters can join your group.
This way, you can learn by watching them while you fight – without the fear of receiving bad feedback from fellow players or feeling like a burden to the team because they may be more experienced.
They do not lag behind average players much and also show you how to use items or the environment to your advantage. This provides the perfect preparation for your first “real” multiplayer sessions.
Opportunities after a blackout
That players who become unconscious in battle because they run out of health points return to the starting point is nothing new. However, what is new is that in Monster Hunter Wilds you are taken back to your base camp.
There you can not only replenish your supplies but also strengthen yourself again by having a meal. Or you can take the opportunity to change your equipment.
For the first time, you can also forge and upgrade your armors and weapons at the base camp during the hunt or craft new ones. This gives you a new, pleasant advantage that makes it easier for newcomers to experiment boldly, especially at the beginning.
Previously, it was also the case that a quest was counted as failed after becoming unconscious 3 times. This is still the case. However, the new seamless world system allows you to continue fights without having to start completely over after failing.
Monsters then reset to the last checkpoint, and you can continue the hunt from there. The last checkpoint is usually the moment when the monster last changed location. This ensures that hunts are also more rewarding and motivating for inexperienced players.
