Easier entry into weapons and fights
With 14 different weapon types, Monster Hunter offers a wide range of options that cater to every play style. However, it has not been so easy for newcomers to find the right setup for themselves. Often, the choice was associated with considerable time expenditure and much trial and error.
This entry is now intended to be made more accessible by Monster Hunter Wilds. Relatively early in the game, players will be asked various questions about their combat preferences. You can decide whether you prefer fast, light weapons or prefer to strike with brutal force.
Based on your answers, companion Alma will then introduce you to a suitable weapon. You can accept the suggestion or change it. Once you have made your decision, you can test the chosen weapon immediately and see if it also suits you in practice. If not, you can also change your mind here.
If you are still unsure, you can also take a second weapon into the hunt for the first time with Monster Hunter Wilds. This allows you to switch between them to see which one suits you best. Clear difficulty levels and weaknesses
With the easier and clearer entry into the weapon system comes a more structured flow of difficulty levels. Special care was taken in the selection of the first monsters to ensure that they do not require too many common tactics and techniques, gently introducing the player to them.
They are meant to serve as teachers, familiarizing players with various tasks and processes without hitting them over the head or overwhelming them. In free exploration of the areas, a new star system helps players better assess the challenges they encounter.
Combined with the new focus mode, which allows hunters to visually highlight the weaknesses of monsters, it makes it easier for newcomers to enter the hunting techniques. The mode offers a simple system that helps players deal relatively easily higher damage. When players repeatedly strike the same spots on the monster, weak points develop.
The focus mode highlights these and makes it easier for hunters to inflict wounds in those areas, which cause increased damage. This helps avoid frustration and motivates newcomers to stick with it and learn important positions.
