In Destiny 2, there are only a few days left until the new raid “The Oath of the Student”. Therefore, we show you 5 weapons that you should definitely take with you, as they can help you against champions, for DPS, or during add-clearing.
What are these weapons? These are mainly Exotics that will prove useful in various situations. The “add clearing”, possible champions, and the necessary DPS have been taken into account, and that’s why we came up with five weapons.
When does the raid start? The raid starts on March 5, 2022, at 7 PM. If you need more information about it, we have summarized everything important for you:
Additionally, we have also found a few builds for the Day One raid:
5 weapons that are important for the new raid in Witch Queen
The focus was on selecting weapons that have proven to be very practical over time. We encountered the following five candidates:
1. Osteo Striga – Exotic SMG for normal enemies
What kind of weapon is this? It is the exotic SMG “Osteo Striga”. This weapon is only available to buyers of the Deluxe Edition. So if you liked the hermit spider in the past, you will like its younger brother even more.
Why is it so special? This slow-firing SMG shoots with seeking and poisonous parasites. If you kill an enemy or hit them with sufficient precision hits, a poison impulse is sent out. This poisons surrounding enemies, and when they die, another impulse is released.
If you need a good weapon for smaller groups of enemies, this poison injector will help you thin out the enemy masses. With a completed catalyst, it gets even better.
How do I get the weapon? If you own the Deluxe Edition, you must have completed the Witch Queen campaign to unlock it. If you need the exact steps, we link you to our Osteo-Striga guide:
2. The Enigma – The new close- and long-range hybrid
What kind of weapon is this? The glaive is a new weapon category that was implemented with Witch Queen. With it, you have the ability to cover both close and long-range combat while also protecting yourself. If you need an ace up your sleeve, you should take it with you.
Why is it so special? You can customize the glaive to your liking. You can try different perks and then test them to have the right weapon ready in the raid. Additionally, you can block with your glaive to safely revive fallen guardians. Blocked shots are 100% negated.
If that’s not enough, you can also hit your targets at long ranges for a lot of damage. This makes the glaive a very good option. Additionally, the artifact offers mods to deal with unstoppable and overloaded champions. So you cover a wide area, which will determine the outcome of the battle.
Joe Blackburn, Game Director of Bungie, mentioned via Twitter today that Bungie sees the suppressing glaive as problematic for the Day One raid. But we assume that the new weapon category will not be completely disabled. You should expect both short-term solutions to protect the World First race and long-term adjustments as well.
How do I get the weapon? You will receive the weapon when you start the Witch Queen story. You only need to complete the first mission. Once you have done that, you will gain access to the forge to create your first glaive in the enclave.
3. The good old Gjallarhorn
What kind of weapon is this? This is the exotic rocket launcher “Gjallarhorn”. This legend was known among Destiny 1 players as the “boss killer” and stunned many guardians at its release. In Destiny 2, the hornet still performs well due to its perks.
Why is it so special? This rocket launcher gives you seeking projectiles that transform into homing missiles upon impact thanks to its intrinsic perk “Pack Hunters”. If you are in a group that is equipped only with legendary rocket launchers, they also get pack hunters.
How do I get the weapon? This exotic is tied to a quest that came with the 30th Anniversary Pack. If you need a guide for it, we show you step by step how to complete it:
4. Hegemony

What kind of weapon is this? This is the legendary ritual weapon “Hegemony”. This weapon can deal very high damage with a specific combo and deliver a hard blow to enemies. So if you need a heavy weapon, this could be your choice.
Why is it so special? This rocket launcher comes with the predetermined perks “Explosive Light” and “Chain Reaction”. You can customize your weapon depending on the situation to withstand all dangers. Pair this weapon with collected light spheres, the boss spec mod, and a friend with the Gjallarhorn to deal massive damage to bosses.
How do I get the weapon? This weapon was available through the leaders of various activities like Gambit, Vanguard, or Crucible in Season 15. If you haven’t obtained it, you can still buy it from the legacy kiosk in the Tower. The price is:
- 75,000 glimmer
- 100 legendary shards
- 2 enhancement prisms
- 1 ascendant shard
5. Divinity
What kind of weapon is this? This is an exotic arc fusion rifle. This weapon has often made life easier for guardians in many raids and therefore cannot be missing from this list.
Why is it so special? This weapon can easily stop overloaded champions and wraps every enemy, including bosses, in a white net. If your team is having trouble hitting your boss at a critical point, the white net can help you. It enlarges the hitbox.
How do I get the weapon? The weapon is tied to a secret quest that was introduced with Shadowkeep. For this, you will be sent into the raid “Garden of Salvation” and must solve several puzzles, followed by successfully completing the raid.
Are there more weapons? There are plenty of weapons in Destiny 2 that you can switch to. You should also pay attention to champions, as they will likely be present. In addition to legendary alternatives, the new worm launcher might also be worth it for smaller bosses or majors, as it deals more damage when you have killed enough enemies.
A last hidden weapon tip for you: Cunning players have discovered that the Wardcliff Coil has likely received a secret buff. It’s possible it’s also a bug. But a comparison was made in the dungeon “Shroud of Avarice” against the Ogre boss. The coil came up against the Gjallarhorn and won with 1.2 million damage against the hornet’s 900,000 damage. The weapon could prove to be a hidden gem in the new raid. So if you are indecisive, try both options to prepare for your raid start.
