WildStar
WildStar is another tragic case in gaming history. Carbine’s colorful MMORPG was supposed to be the great hope of western online role-playing games, but unfortunately, success never materialized, and now WildStar exists as a niche title. However, the developers have not given up and have announced several innovations for 2017. So it remains exciting.
Colorful and hardcore!
WildStar is no longer as “hardcore” as it once was, and the huge 40-person raids are long gone. Nonetheless, the dungeons and raids in WildStar are still tough nuts, and if you don’t want to deal with movement and optimal skill rotation, you won’t get far.
The combat system of WildStar is very fast-paced and action-oriented. You must actively dodge and hit your targets with skill shots. WildStar helps you with colorful target markers, the “telegraphs.” This way, you can always see what you hit. Your opponents also have telegraphs, so you can see exactly what you died from after each failed raid attempt.
Here comes the hamster!
In addition to its challenging gameplay, WildStar offers a generous serving of humor. This begins right at the selection of playable races. While other games offer up the same boring elves, orcs, and dwarves, in WildStar we have a selection of bizarre beings. For instance, flashy stone giants who feast on beer and psychopathic hamsters!
The story and the background world do not take themselves too seriously either. For instance, we are often led into the enclaves of the hyper-capitalistic Portostar corporation. In one particularly funny quest, we have to deliver resignation letters to undesirable employees who all die in horrible ways afterward.
In another quest, we hunt square cube-like creatures called “Schwürfel”. Or find a cheesy erotic novel that describes the bizarre love of an Aurin (a cute playable race) for a tree.
The coolest housing!
WildStar impresses with its well-thought-out combat system and humorous game world, but the secret highlight of the game is housing! Nowhere else can you unleash your creativity as you can here, as there are thousands of building components that you can customize and place as you like.
This results in extremely elaborate buildings that also provide bonuses to character progression! If you like, you can spend countless hours on your house and use it for social interactions and role-playing. Also cool: On holidays like Halloween or Christmas, there are special quests that take place only in housing, such as “Trick or Treat.” You can also decorate your houses accordingly.
Why you should play more WildStar
WildStar is simply one of the most well-thought-out online role-playing games on the market. It offers refined gameplay, challenging instances, a humorous story, bizarre character designs, and the best housing ever seen in an MMO. Also, the game is free to play and even without an optional subscription, there is plenty of fun to be had. So if you haven’t tried it yet and you like MMORPGs, you should definitely give it a go.
