Destiny 2 – Does the Warmind DLC save the game?
What is it about? For the MMO shooter Destiny 2, the second expansion “Warmind” will be released on May 8, 2018. There, your Guardian is transported to Mars. Warmind Rasputin has awakened and sets a chain of events into motion that causes the polar ice caps on the red planet to melt.
But something terrible is unleashed as a result. An ancient army of the Hive has awakened and is now gathering around their god Xol.
What’s new?
The Warmind DLC and the concurrently released update milestone 1.2.0 bring not only the continuation of the story but also some long-awaited features and improvements for Destiny 2.
Important contents of the update are:
- New raid lair: Spire of Stars
- New weapons, armor, and equipment
- New ritual activity: Escalation Protocol
- New strikes
- New story missions and adventures
- New location on the ice caps of Mars
- Access to multiplayer arenas in private matches
- Seasonal ranking system for the Crucible
- Masterwork versions for exotic weapons

- Massive sandbox adjustments for exotic weapons

What are the players hoping for?
Many fans are looking forward to the new raid lair as well as the revamped exotic weapons, their masterwork versions, and the seasonal ranking for the Crucible.
Players also hope that the Warmind expansion will allow Bungie to pave the way for the next major expansion in the fall and keep players engaged until then.
What will it be in the best or worst case?
In the ideal case: Bungie will deliver more to the players with the DLC than they expect and as previously visible. Because the dwindling fan base needs something to do until September. In the fall, Bungie should then already have much stronger arguments in hand to make the numerous skeptical Guardians enjoy the game again.
In the worst case: DLC II has nothing more to offer weeks later that fans can use to spend their time meaningfully until fall – just like the first expansion did. If the second DLC does not resonate, then the big expansion will also find it very difficult to win back disappointed players.
Why should you play Destiny 2 now?
Destiny 2 delivers with the Warmind expansion and the accompanying update 1.2.0 fresh content, as well as some new features that could finally provide the missing long-term motivation.
There’s plenty to do for both PvE and PvP fans. If you haven’t checked in for a while, now is a good time to revisit the Destiny universe. A lot has changed since the beginning of the year.
