In Forza Horizon 5, car enthusiasts can fulfill their dreams. The racing game offers over 600 vehicles and features a variety of popular manufacturers. Those who play a lot, earn money, and successfully complete numerous races can quickly have a huge fleet. However, some cars are very rare, and only a fraction of players own them. MeinMMO shows you 5 of the rarest cars in Forza Horizon 5!
What criteria were decisive? The five cars selected by us are among the rarest vehicles in Forza Horizon 5. Since there are no official and publicly available numbers on how many players own a particular car, we determined our list based on the following criteria:
- Availability in the car show
- Availability in the auction house
- Length of availability in the auction house
- Physical limitation or binding to IRL purchases
- Frequency of availability in festival playlists and the Forzathon shop (providing insights into possibly limited time availability)
All vehicles on this list cannot be purchased in the car show and are sometimes tied to orders for real-life items. Moreover, they appear – if at all – only extremely rarely in the auction house and then at very high prices.
1. Maserati 8CTF
What kind of vehicle is this? The Maserati 8CTF is a racing car from 1939 that brought great success to the Italian sports car manufacturer in motorsport and is one of the few European brands that won the 500-mile (approximately 805 km) race at the Indianapolis Oval.
How do you get the car? The Maserati 8CTF was included as a prize in Series 2 of the festival playlist of Forza Horizon 5. If you wanted to unlock the car, you had to earn 45 points in the summer season game list.
The Series 2 ran from December 9, 2021, to January 6, 2022, with the summer season reportedly ending on December 16, according to forza-fandom.com.
Since the end of Series 2, the historic car has not been part of a festival playlist or the Forzathon shop (as of June 2022). If you want to own the Maserati 8CTF in Forza Horizon 5, you have to hope for the auction house, where it is only rarely offered.
It is also unclear at what price the racing car would be offered in the auction house. During our research, we kept an eye on the auction house for several days and only encountered the Maserati in the screenshot, which was supposed to cost “only” 8,000,000 CR. It is quite possible that future sales could cost more.
2. Vauxhall Lotus Carlton
What kind of vehicle is this? The Vauxhall Lotus Carlton is a rear-wheel drive sports car from the United Kingdom. The Carlton is a joint product of the car manufacturers Lotus and Vauxhall from 1990. The latter is a subsidiary of Opel.
How do you get the car? The Carlton appeared in Series 3 of Forza Horizon 5 and was available as a milestone (45 points in the festival playlist) in the spring season. Those who did not unlock it at that time must currently hope that it will be offered in the auction house. However, this is extremely rare, just like with the Maserati 8CTF.
If the Vauxhall Lotus Carlton is sold in the auction house, the seller will most likely demand 20 million CR.
However, during our research, we did not have the luck to see the sports car even once in the auction house. For us, this is enough evidence that it is one of the rarest vehicles in Forza Horizon 5.

3. Ford GT ‘OPI Edition’ 2017
What kind of vehicle is this? The 2017 Ford GT is the successor to the legendary Ford GT 40, which owes its fame to winning the 24-hour race at Le Mans. With the 2017 Ford GT, the car manufacturer wanted to prove that it is still capable of producing sports cars at the highest level.
The Ford GT in the ‘OPI Edition’ is an exclusive version of the super sports car available only in Forza Horizon 5 and features not only the special paint job but also improved performance. The standard performance of the OPI Edition is in Forza Horizon 5, the performance class S1 at 900, while the standard version of the Ford GT has a standard S1-863.
Another special detail distinguishing the OPI Edition from the standard version is the possibility of swapping the engine during tuning. The OPI Edition has the Racing V6TT as an option and can be fully upgraded with this engine to reach the performance class X-999. The standard version’s maximum is only in the middle of class S2 at 953.
How do you get the car? To get the Ford GT in the OPI Edition, you have to place an order in real life to then receive a code for the car. However, the item you need to order is not an object that you can use to play Forza Horizon 5 or that is otherwise directly connected to the game.
To get the Ford GT OPI Edition, you need to order nail polish from the American nail polish manufacturer OPI Products. Specifically, it must be OPI nail polish from the Xbox Collection (via xbox.com), which is available in Germany in the product lines Infinite Shine, Nail Lacquers, and GelColor. After ordering the nail polish, you can request the code for the special vehicle.
It is not possible to buy the Ford GT OPI Edition in the car show or obtain it in a wheelspin. It has also not been included in the Forzathon shop or in a festival playlist as a reward.
4. Wuling Sunshine S
What kind of vehicle is this? The 2013 Wuling Sunshine S is a van from the Chinese car manufacturer Wuling, which has partnerships with international companies such as SAIC Motor and General Motors, selling its vehicles only in China.
How do you get the car? The Wuling Sunshine S was available as a prize in Series 4 of Forza Horizon 5 during the autumn championship of the festival playlist and could be unlocked by reaching 25 points. If you did not take this opportunity, you will have to invest a lot of CR to own the extraordinary car – if you are lucky.
The Chinese van is only rarely offered in the auction house by other players and usually costs around 20,000,000 CR. However, this did not prevent competing bidders during our research from ending the auction within a minute using the buy-it-now price.
The Wuling Sunshine S has only once been a part of a festival playlist, has not been offered in the Forzathon shop, and is also not available in the car show.
5. De Luxe Five-Window Coupé Forza Edition
What kind of vehicle is this? The Ford De Luxe is a coupé from 1932 and features standard rear-wheel drive. In the limited Forza Edition, the coupé is transformed into a so-called hot rod through special modification.
How do you get the car? The Ford De Luxe Five-Window Coupé in Forza Edition is definitely one of the rarest cars in Forza Horizon 5. You cannot buy the special hot rod in the car show, nor can you obtain it in a wheelspin. It has also not been included in the Forzathon shop or in a festival playlist as a reward.
If you want the De Luxe Five-Window Coupé Forza Edition, you must buy the limited Forza Horizon 5 Xbox controller (via xbox.com) and receive a code with the purchase. You can then redeem this code and receive the hot rod once in the game.
Each ‘Ford De Luxe Five-Window Coupé Forza Edition’ thus originates from a purchase of the FH5 controller. Therefore, there is a very limited number of vehicles in circulation, and the controller is also rarely available.
Attention: When purchasing the controller, make sure to order from an official dealer if you also want the hot rod. During our research, we read some stories from players who received the controller through a private purchase but were disappointed to find that the code was either not included or already redeemed.

Why are other rare vehicles not included in the list? There are still several other vehicles considered extremely rare in Forza Horizon 5 that we did not include in the list for various reasons.
For example, some of the rare vehicles were frequently offered in the auction house during our research or were noticeably cheaper than the collector’s items we chose. We also decided against cars that appeared more often in the Forzathon shop and/or the festival playlist than the Maserati, Carlton, or Wuling.
What do you think of our list of the rarest cars in Forza Horizon 5? Do you think vehicles like the 2016 Honda Civic Coupé, the Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Spyder Performance, or the 2003 Toyota Celica SS-I are missing? Feel free to let us know here on MeinMMO in the comments!
