Sadie Adler
Who is she? Sadie Adler joins the “Van der Linde” gang at the beginning of RDR2. At that time, the group is on the run and braving the winter in the mountains.
On a foraging trip in search of food, Dutch, Micah, and Arthur come across the Adler farm, which has just been robbed by a rival gang, the O’Driscoll Boys. The trio takes out the O’Driscolls and find Sadie Adler.
She had been hiding in the basement from the bandits who had killed her husband Jake. Traumatized, she initially tried to attack the three. The farm caught fire and was destroyed. Ultimately, they managed to calm Sadie down and take her with them to the rest of the group.
From Grieving Widow to Bounty Hunter
In the following weeks, Sadie was very quiet; the loss of her husband traumatized her, and her home was destroyed. Up until that point, she had led a happy life, which was taken from her. Initially very withdrawn and isolated, she became an integral part of the gang as the story of RDR2 progressed.
Her thoughts of revenge against her husband’s murderers led her to be very brutal in some situations and to show little regard for others. Nevertheless, she helped with numerous gang actions and was loyal.
She was also present when the leader of the O’Driscolls was ultimately hanged. Additionally, at one point in the story, she helped rescue John Marston from prison in Saint Denis.
After the “Van der Linde” gang fell apart, she promised Arthur to look after John, Abigail, and Jack, to help them find their way in a rural life. A life that she had lost.
In the epilogue, John reencounters Sadie, who has now become a successful bounty hunter. She helped him with a few bounty missions to pay off the farm that John had bought for his family.
What happens to Sadie next? There are ongoing rumors that she could become the next protagonist in a possible Red Dead Redemption 3. Her voice actress Alex McKenna would be on board for that (via screenrant.com). However, there are no concrete hints about it yet.
