This includes not only individual games that generally have a high purchase price but also bundles, in-game currency packs, and especially paid DLCs. But which game can you spend the most money on?
Place 5: The VR game Ascent makes your floor vibrate
What is Ascent? Ascent Free-Roaming VR Experience – as the full title is – is a VR game from the developer studio Fury Games, where you have to free a monster-infested research facility using firearms.
The VR title was developed for arcades that utilize VR technology, and this is also reflected in the equipment you need: This ranges from haptic suits to subwoofer bass shakers to smart plug climate control.

How much does Ascent cost? The monster adventure Ascent Free-Roaming VR Experience is the most expensive game on Steam and costs €999. For this amount, you only get the game. The required hardware, premises, VR equipment, or additional content are not included in the price.

What is the Call of Duty Franchise Collection? Most of you know the popular shooter series Call of Duty. What is Sims 4? The Sims 4 is the latest installment in the popular series “The Sims.” The titles in the series are called life simulations – they are meant to simulate real life. You build your own four walls with your character, pursue a career, and start a family.
How much does The Sims 4 cost? The Sims 4 was released in 2014 and has been available for free since 2022. Sims 4 only becomes expensive due to the DLCs.
The game currently has 79 already released additional contents, with prices ranging from €4.99 to €39.99. You get a range of different themes such as pets, snowy vacations, and even Star Wars.
The catch with the large number of DLCs in the life simulation is the total price: If you want to buy all 79 add-ons, you will have to pay a whopping €1,234.22! This ranks us at place 5 of the most expensive games on Steam.

Place 2: The Kagura Bundle
What is the Kagura Bundle? Kagura Games is an American video game publisher that specializes in localizing and translating Japanese games into English. The Kagura Bundle thus includes a number of games from the publisher.
What games are included in the Kagura Bundle? The Kagura Bundle includes a total of 140 Japanese indie games. Many of the games are categorized by Steam as RPGs or JRPGs. Additionally, a large number of the titles are categorized with the tags “Adventure”, “Anime”, and “Nudity/Sexual Content”. Therefore, the games or the bundle are not suitable for minors.
How much does the Kagura Bundle cost? The bundle with all 140 games, with prices ranging from €8 to €22 per game, costs a total of €1,732.44.

Place 1: The Train Simulator with DLCs for €10,000
What is the Train Simulator? The Train Simulator is a simulation game about train travel. The title, released in 2009, offers an enormous selection of train routes from all over the world. The simulator has received this over the years through numerous DLCs – by April 2024, there are already 742 additional contents!
Further updates have aimed at the graphics and performance of the game in an attempt to keep the Train Simulator somewhat current.
How much does the Train Simulator cost? The base game of the Train Simulator costs €24.99. For an additional €19.99, you can, for example, travel from Hamburg to Lübeck with the virtual train.
If you want to buy all 742 DLCs of the Train Simulator, be prepared to spend a fortune. Already the 200 top-selling DLCs cost over €3,000 according to our calculations. For all 742 DLCs, you will probably have to pay around €10,000.
But as with many simulations, the Train Simulator is also the case that as a player, you are not supposed to buy all DLCs. Rather, a consciously large selection is offered, so that you can decide which routes you want to explore.
You only buy the routes that are in the region where you live and maybe another 2-3 DLCs with interesting routes from around the world. So you can selectively choose interesting routes for yourself instead of acquiring the sheer mass of DLCs.
