The flowers are blooming, the sun is staying out longer, and the animals are waking up from their winter sleep – spring is here. Time for a new anime season! MeinMMO shows which promising anime are waiting for you in the spring season of 2024.
The year 2024 started with a strong winter season. The anime based on Solo Leveling emerged as one of the best series in the season. The spring season of 2024 continues just as strong, with new series waiting for anime fans.
MeinMMO has sifted through the new releases and picked out 5 of the most promising newcomers in the anime scene. Ongoing series like My Reincarnation as a Slime in Another World and Mushoku Tensei have not been considered in this selection.
Keep in mind that this is a subjective opinion. The anime series have not yet started, and therefore can only be judged based on trailers, the manga source material, and similar content.
Kaiju No. 8
- Original Title: Kaiju 8-go
- Start Date: Sub: April 13 at 4:00 PM in livestream, German/Sub: 5:30 PM VoD
- Provider: Crunchyroll
The manga source for Kaiju No. 8 is probably the most popular among the anime presented here. On Manga Plus, the manga currently ranks 14th among the most read works, and on MyAnimeList, it holds 82nd place in the overall ranking. There’s still some potential for improvement, but the anime series could make Kaiju No. 8 even more popular.
The trailers have already shown that the anime is a bit brutal. After battles with monsters, innards and blood are just lying around. Those with strong nerves can watch the anime without hesitation.
What is Kaiju No. 8 about? Japan is being attacked by kaiju, gigantic monsters that are hunted by elite units. Childhood friends Kafka and Mina vow to one day land in this elite unit. Mina succeeds, but Kafka fails multiple times at the entrance exam and instead becomes a cleaner for the sites where the kaiju have been killed.
One fateful day, Kafka encounters a parasite that nests in him. As a result, he can now transform himself into a kaiju and goes from being the crime scene cleaner to being the hunted.
Shaman King: Flowers
- Original Title: Shaman King Furawazu
- Start Date: Sub: April 21
- Provider: Netflix
Shaman King: Flowers is the sequel to Shaman King. The anime of the predecessor is already available on Netflix, both in the original Japanese and with German dubbing. It was popular in the anime community, which gives us high hopes for the sequel to be just as successful.
As with many anime where the baton is passed to the next generation, it may be that popular characters from Shaman King are neglected. This was already the case with Boruto. However, the first materials already looked promising. Therefore, we recommend Shaman King: Flowers if you were a fan of Shaman King.
What is Shaman King: Flowers about? The story takes place 14 years after the great shaman battle from Shaman King. The focus is no longer on Yo Asakura, but on his son Hana Asakura. He no longer wants to live an ordinary life and wants to become a shaman.
One day, a boy named Yohane suddenly appears. He challenges him to a fight, as his goal is to kill Hana as part of the “other” Asakura family. Now Hana can show what he’s made of.
