Wurm Online
Setting: Medieval | Developer: Code Club AB| Platform: PC | Release Date: December 12, 2012 | Model: Free2Play
What is Wurm Online? Wurm Online describes itself as the ultimate sandbox MMORPG. You can freely shape the world and place houses wherever there is free and unused land.
You play in an open world with no instances, which can be shaped by you. Exploring, mining, and building play an important role. Many also refer to it as Minecraft for adults.
Wurm Online is Free2Play, but offers an optional subscription. The MMORPG was released on December 12, 2012, and was expanded by the single-player version Wurm Unlimited in 2015.
In July 2020, Wurm Online finally launched on Steam. It currently has 1,640 reviews which show a mixed reception with 60% positive votes.
What can you experience in the game? Wurm Online is definitely not for players who want to experience rapid progress. To build a house, you must:
- Fell trees and process them into logs.
- The logs will be sawed into planks.
- However, to build something from the planks, you need nails.
- For that, you need iron from a mine, which then has to be smelted.
- From planks and nails, you can now create a first wall.
In addition to a complex and in-depth crafting system and the ability to actively shape the landscape, Wurm Online also offers classic MMORPG content, such as:
- Creatures and bosses that you can attack.
- A trading system.
- Three factions that fight each other.
- Mounts
Are there really no fights? Wurm Online offers you classic combat. But among the many MMORPGs out there that theoretically let you forgo fighting, Wurm is one of the best.
So, if you want to swing a sword from time to time but prefer to gather, build, and enjoy the game world, Wurm Online offers the perfect balance.
