Setting: Modern | Developer: Linden Lab| Platform: PC | Release Date: June 23, 2003 | Model: Free2Play
What is Second Life? Second Life is a 3D online world that many have heard of. The game focuses on social aspects and has garnered a lot of attention. In the world, you can:
- Create your own avatars
- Interact with other players and also use voice chats for that
- Engage in role-playing
- Acquire land and build on it.
The game has according to Gridsurvey over 60 million registered accounts and still has around 40,000 simultaneous players even today. The game is free to play, but a subscription is required for some content.
What can you experience in the game? Theoretically, there are hardly any limits to your ideas and wishes. You can live in a city and meet friends and like-minded people there, buy a house, and keep pets.
You can also roam through bars, explore the world, or become a famous architect or fashion designer. Many of the contents are reminiscent of the real world, but there is also the option to use some fantasy content and play as vampires or furries.
Theoretically, you can even earn real money in the game.
Are there really no fights? In certain areas of the world, it is theoretically possible to use weapons. There are both pistols and rifles, making the game briefly a third-person shooter, as well as swords and hidden dungeons, which correspond more to an MMORPG.
In the rest of the world, however, fighting is not possible.
