MMOs can be very different in structure. World of Warcraft is hard to compare with titles like Fortnite or League of Legends. Yet, one thing connects them: fighting. In this list, we would like to introduce you to MMOs that completely forgo this.
What characterizes MMOs without fights? The multiplayer games that completely avoid fighting usually rely heavily on the social component. There are also MMOs where fighting is possible but rather optional.
We would like to introduce you to 5 games where there are (almost) no fights. Additionally, you will find more MMOs at the end where you could theoretically forgo fighting.
A Tale in the Desert
Setting: Ancient Egypt | Developer: EGenesis | Platform: PC, Mac | Release Date: February 15, 2003 | Model: Pay2Play
What is A Tale in the Desert? A Tale in the Desert is an MMORPG set in ancient Egypt. It focuses heavily on:
- Crafting
- Trading
- Social content
- and politics
The entire game world is destructible and invites experimentation. The MMO utilizes one of the most demanding crafting systems available and is not necessarily beginner-friendly.
To play A Tale in the Desert, you need a subscription of over 12 euros per month. The MMO is available in English, German, and French and was released in 2003.
What can you experience in the game? In the MMORPG, three factions compete against each other. They build in competition, and the goal is to create the most impressive and complex structures.
Every week, a vote is taken on who should take over the leadership of the respective faction. The leader can remove members from a faction but can also invite new ones. With some persuasion, members from the other two groups can also be poached.
To prevent the game world from becoming completely overbuilt, it is reset from time to time. Currently, the game is in Tale 10. A Tale lasts about 12 to 18 months.

Are there really no fights? In A Tale in the Desert, there are absolutely no options for fighting each other.
However, you can challenge other players in puzzles or other small tasks.
